So tomorrow I get to go do that fun thing we girls get to do: a visit to the OBGYN and the stirrup brigade. I always debate with myself when I go through this ritual of modern torture whether or not to remove my socks.
On the one hand, I feel pretty silly sitting there in socks only, and socks, whether black or white, just seem to emphasize how pastey-white my legs are. (Especially under those god-awful florescent lights.)
One the other hand, my feet get cold, dammit! And if I go sockless, that means I have to give myself a pedicure tonight. (Although I’m not sure that’s such a bad thing.)
I keep the socks on! I figure, I’ve already forfeited any chance of looking suave and dignified the instant I put on that open-front robe and get up on the table, so I might as well keep my feet warm.
I make my appointments for during lunch or after work so I’m usually wearing pantyhose and I have to take them off (of course) and go bare foot. My gyno does have socks over the stirrups and that helps. I should start bringing a pair of socks with me when I go… I get tired of having cold feet.
Am I the only one to take my socls off?! I just figure I am all naked and only socks is pretty weird… so I take it all out!!! I always have cold feet anyway!
I was just there Saturday, and left the socks on. It’s cold in there, and sometimes you have to sit there nekkid wrapped in a paper towel for a half hour. My ob/gyn has little pot-holder things on the stirrups, but my feet get cold easily, so the socks stay on.
Being there reminded me of a conversation I had with a man I was involved with a while back - we joked about getting an old table w/stirrups so he could go down on me for 4 hours without him getting a crick in his neck.
I keep my socks on… I even put a sweater on over the paper gown once because the doctor was taking forever to see me and I was freezing. White paper gown/black cardigan, black socks - snazzy!!
Socks here. Like someone said, the doc’s not there to look at/exam your feet. May as well be as comfy as possible in the (usually) cold examination room.
Socks on, although I’m painfully aware of them the whole time. I’m feeling a bit silly now though, I always put those silly napkin dresses on with the opening at the back.
