The consequences of sleeping with partners with whom these agreements have not been hashed out beforehand are much more severe for men than women though, assuming only one partner in the relationship desires an abortion.
This could be in reference to cmoore. I’ve read the pit thread, though not the thread linked by the OP. I just didn’t really have anything to say about it.
Getting pregnant is not a severe consequence? Being saddled with a baby is not a severe consequence? Probably sacrificing a good part of my career for child care is not a consequence? Boo-hoo, you men have to pay child support for the baby you formed. I empathized with you right up until that statement.
Honestly though you cannot talk fairly about mens’ parental rights in a society where birth control and abortion are both looked down upon and there is still abstinence education and people still recoil in horror at the idea of teens having sex, rather than providing them with the education and tools to deal with it.
The man should be aware of the fact that the woman he’s having sex with could get pregnant and have the baby or abort the baby without his having any say. If that bothers him, then maybe he should DO something about that to reduce or eliminate his risk, like using a condom or not having sex at that time.
Hear! Hear! After catching up in the JOSH pit (Or is it a smiley convention?)* I was lamenting a good pitting. Fortunately, I found it in this thread. Kinda messy with the splattered remains of MRA “brain” matter but still a fun read.
*Did I just make this about someone else now?
