I don’t want to hijack the thread about James Kim, so instead I’m posting in here and starting what would have been a clear hijack.
How awful that he did not make it. I too felt sickened to hear how this turned out. He sounds like a careful smart man who left a trail, did what he thought was best to save them and did not luck out.
The bitter side of me finds it ironic that people are talking about how Kati Kim breast-fed both of her children to keep them alive, yet that same lifesaving act would get her arrested or at least thrown out of at a huge variety of shopping malls and other public areas in this country. Thank god she was in the woods, so you know, nobody would be mortified. Imagine what would have happened if she were in, say, a Victoria’s Secret store, where breasts are apparently for oogling and not for…nursing with?
I find America’s convoluted sense of morality to be ironic, sad and embarassing in turns. See, Victoria’s Secret models have no functioning breasts. They don’t. Check out the catalogue. Not a nipple to be found anywhere. Obviously, to that company, boobs are about feeding a different kind of need.
