Any update?
Ok…because you asked…
Wicked “morning sickness”, that was really all day nausea, with vomiting at least once every day, kicked in at 8 weeks.
Then at 13 weeks I got some sort of virus and had bad vomiting and diarrhoea for 24 hours…then because of the morning sickness I found myself in a position where I could no longer keep any fluids or solids down.
So, after no fluids in 48 hours and no solids in 5 days and having lost 8% of my body weight in a week, I got admitted to hospital with hyperemesis, dehydration, ketosis and hypokalaemia. 48 hours of IV fluids and anti-emetics and I was a new woman. After leaving hospital I was still back to vomiting daily but now with added drowsiness from anti-sickness meds…yeay!
Throughout it all irishfoetus had remained perfectly sized, healthy and chilled out, while I felt awful (so, practice for the next 18 years then).
Finally at 16 weeks the sickness went and my energy picked up.
At 17 weeks the bump arrived and I bought a pair of maternity trousers- it’s still tiny and I’m in normal clothes most of the time, but I do appreciate a good elasticated waistband.
Now, at 18 weeks I’m feeling great apart from backacke, and have started to feel some little flutters and kicks.
This child has been scanned a LOT. My OB knows my personal and family history of birth defects, and with the added fun of hyperemesis has been super vigilant- it is perfect- spine, brain, heart, kidneys, limbs, stomach and lungs all present and correct and just the right size.
We don’t know what we’re having and probably won’t find out- I say girl, irishfella says boy, we’ll wait and see and buy a lot of green and yellow things in the meantime.
In short…things are good.
Thanks for the update, irishgirl. I’m sorry you’ve been having a rough go of it, but glad that you and irishfeotus are both well. Here’s hoping for some boring for the rest of your pregnancy.
Hooray! Here’s hoping for smooth sailing!
Argh, sorry about the tough pregnancy so far, but thrilled to hear that irishbaby is healthy and happy in there!
good news, good news! Here’s hoping that thing remain that way!
Yay for irishfoetus! Glad everything is going okay baby-wise, and I hope your hurling takes a hike.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear the good news.
