Some help with the VW commercial?

I’m trying to figure this one out.

There’s a young guy pictured in split screens going about his daily existance at work… up the escalator, walking the halls, gazing out the window, etc. over the course of several days. All of a sudden, he stops and stares while the camera pans away from him at street level (as if from the rear of a car maybe?).

The whole thing is perfectly set to music, I think maybe an old ELO song (Mister Blue?)

I’m curious what the tune is but more importantly what does the commercial mean? I think at the end it might say “Coming soon” or something like that buy even now it is a bit intriguing. Plus, I can’t get the danged song out my head.

IIRC - everything in his life is repetitive and boring. Same breakfast, work, lunch, work, dinner, sleep day over and over.

But something different is coming. :smiley:

I love that commercial, I think because it fooled me so well the first time I saw it. I was in a theatre and I thought it was a movie trailer.

i don’t care for that commercial at all, probably because it is part of a dozen commercials they showed before Harry Potter. I’m responding by boycotting all those products (darn, i can’t buy a new volkswagon or watch Discovery Kids…)

It’s a good, well-made commercial… high marks for concept and excellent production values. Some brilliant editing, showing the guy’s repetitous life and hinting (briefly) at missed moments. A nice little story, wrapped up in 60 seconds of music.

In short, I dig it. :slight_smile:
