VW Jetta Commercial

A guy is driving in his Jetta, seemingly in a hurry. Cuts to scenes of a wedding. The guy finally arrives at the wedding and when he enters the building, the bride and groom look at him as the procession stops. The guy looks like he’s about to say something, but the commercial ends.

What is going on? Is he there to ruin the wedding? Is he just a friend that showed up late?

I’m guessing thaty he and the bride once had a thing going on and he’s rushing to stop the wedding. He just happens to arrive at the “if anyone objects to this union…” bit.

What are you retarded? The commercial is pretty clear.

Funny comment from someone who calls himself Fool. Please refrain from such behaviour in the future, Green Fool.

What I wanna know is why the US version is still called Jetta! in Europe, the current model is called Bora, and the previous one Vento. All were called Jettas in the US, I think.

I heard a rumor there was supposed to be a sequel to it, where the situation is made clearer.

This is one of my favorite commercials every. The music and the storyline just go along great.

There needs to be more out there like this, although I think it’s best as a stand alone. Sequencial commercials hardly ever work out well, and I feel it would just take away from it’s impact. Especially if they turn it into some sort of Jerry Springer type wedding interruption. Cake being thrown everywhere, bride’s maids competing for attention by flashing the wedding audience, the bride turning out to be a man…touching and heartwarming, sure, but just not as effective.

I’ve told my roommates “I want to know what happens next!” I feel like such a dork and a pawn of the advertising industry.

Is it just me, or does the Jetta driver kinda look like James Spader (esp. in the last “scene” when he’s looking at the bride)? I know it’s not him, I just see a resemblance.

Is the commercial where the lady has the car packed full of hitchhikers all going to diferent cities also Jetta commercial? I figured it had to be a European company since here in the States, we usually equate picking up hitchhikers to getting stabbed in the head and burried in the woods by a homeless drifter.

The guy in the Jetta is Kevin Rahm. He has done a guest appearance in an episode of Friends and is also in the television show Judging Amy.

The commercial has been around for a while, but it seems like they just started showing it regularly again recently. One of my favorites.

What’s the song? Is it just for the commercial or is it from a musical group?

More of a pawn than you know, perhaps.

Ask yourself: Would you care so much about what happens next, if the guy who drove the Jetta and rushed to the wedding weren’t as good-looking?

I think the bride bears a resemblence to Audrey Hepburn, personally.

This is one of the few commercials I actually go back to TV for if I’ve gotten up during the break.

The song is A Million Miles Away by J. Ralph. I love this song and this is my favorite commercial.

Yes, I agree, he does look like a young James Spader.

The beginning of the commercial makes it look like he is late for his own wedding but you soon realize he is rushing to stop “his girl” from getting married.

No, that’s for VW’s EuroVan.

Sorry Coldfire, but you have to admit it is a pretty retarded question.

Guy is in a rush
Guy shows up at a chapel
Guy walks in at the “forever hold your peace” part of a wedding ceremony
Guy and Bride share a longing look

Seems crystal clear to me.

I love this commercial too. The music is great, and it reminds me of one of my favourite movies - “The Graduate”

You know, I must’ve been drunk or something the first time I saw this commercial because I could’ve sworn that:

  1. The guy was going to his own wedding.
  2. He was really, really, way the hell, late.
and 3) His bride, tired of waiting, decided to marry the best man.

Hey, it makes for an interesting story!

Um, I should probably note that I figured out what was happening the second time I saw the commercial. I’m not that dense, really!
