I keep seeing just the end of this commercial and it is driving me batty. I think it’s for Volkswagen…but maybe it’s Volvo or, I don’t know, Geo or DeLorean or something. Work with me. Anyway, Smoking Hot Scruffy Guy comes out of a gas station loaded down with food and stuff and walks to where Adequately Hot Scruffy Guy is pumping gas into their V-whatever. They exchange some words, then long, meaningful glances before SHSG walks around to the passenger’s side and AHSG takes the driver’s seat. What goes on here? Does something happen in the beginning of the commercial that explains the soulful eyeballing? Was their some dialogue about the importance of letting your friend drive your car? Do the Hot Scruffy Guys go somewhere and make out (other than in my fevered brain)? The hell? I went to Ads.com and tried to find this commercial, but to no avail. Can anyone who has seen this explain it to me?

LOL… Are you somehow missing the fact that Smoking Hot Scruffy Guy is tan to the point of sunburn down the LEFT side of his body, and that Adequately Hot Scruffy Guy is tan to the point of Sunburn down the RIGHT side of his body?
And thus staring at one another and realizing this, SHSG decides to let AHSG drive for this tank full?
They’re each sunburned on one side of their faces/arms, realize this when they look at each other, and switch sides to even it out.

Heh, I’m glad you asked this, because I saw it once and I was clueless about it too. I guess the tan wasn’t what I was looking at. 
What I really want to know is the name of the actor in the other Volkwagen ad, where Nervous But Super Hot and Sexy Guy is racing to the church to stop a wedding of the girl he loves (I presume) to the Also Hot But Looks Boring Guy.
Could I find that out on ads.com?
“Nervous But Super Hot and Sexy Guy” looks like James Spader to me. May be wrong. Don’t know the groom.

It’s a Jetta commercial, and I failed to notice the sunburns, either. Merci, I wondered about this ad myself.
Don’t know the name of the actor, but it might help in tracking him down to know that NBSH&SG is the same actor who played the doctor on the sitcom “Jesse” with Christina Applegate.

Here’s a link to a Slate article about the Nervous Sexy Guy in the Jetta ad. It doesn’t give his name but it does point out that the same guy appears in a later Apple ad where he elopes with another woman, creates a dvd and shows his parents the footage, who then wonder what happened to “Leslie”.
Mrs. elf6c asked the same thing to me. After a :rolleyes: moment- I pointed out the near 2nd degree burns on one side only of their super pasty bodies.
I guess the Jetta is sooooo great that your willing to give yourself skin cancer just to drive it.
Although I do love my Golf with the 1.8 Turbo engine (180 Horses- plus small nimble car equals zoom!), just not to the point of skin cancer and painful second degree burns. Where were those dolts driving-- Mercury?
Isn’t the AHBLBG the insurance salesman in the commercial for (um) car insurance, in which he’s at lunch with one of clients, who’s complaining that she can’t believe that everyone is as blissfully happy as they claim? You know? And he tells her she’s one of the best drivers he knows? Or something? Hello?
