Awhile back, I posted in the Pit that I felt Lexx is a terrible show, one of the worst. I was wrong, not because another show has replaced it, but beause it has moved up in my mind.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but I have to say that this show isn’t all bad. This past Friday, they aired an all musical episode, which was so funny I downloaded and burned a copy of the whole musical onto a cd.
Michael McManus, who plays Kai, is pretty talented. I mean, he gets some pretty good emotion accross for playing a dead guy.
This show is kinda funny, quirky, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Does anyone else watch it? I still haven’t seen the first three seasons, just Brigadoom(the musical) from the second season.
I loved this show in the first season. It had interesting plots, a hot Xev, and it took me a while to figure what the ship was about. I could never get back into it in the second season with the new Xev.

I have often compared Lexx to heroin…the first time you try it, it’s horrible. But if you keep using it, you get hooked, although it ruins your life and makes you a social outcast.
I have managed to kick the habit (probably just as well, the current season sounds as if it’s lost sight of the original concept), but I will say that the show has had its entertaining moments. The first series was actually pretty decent light SF fare, and despite the poor writing and generally bad acting the later seasons could be pretty funny.
I think Michael McManus definately deserves better, though. The man is acting circles around the rest of the cast, and his character is a walking corpse fercryinoutloud.
Oh, and I agree with Mikemike2 that the original blue-haired Zev was far superior to her later incarnation. Better looking, tougher, and smarter.
It was one of those shows that I caught in bits and pieces. And then eventually it worked its way into a full episodes. I really liked the whole Water-Fire season. Especially poor Stanley predicaments on fire.
The original season I think was from HBO or Cinemax or something and the US called it “Tales from a Parallel Universe” where they set up everything. SciFi finally played em earlier this year but I haven’t seen it since. And I missed the first half hour of the original show. Damn!!
I once posted before that I felt that Kai was the kind of guy that women all over the universe would fall for. Definately the strong silent, type who can absolutely kick ass. I love his reaction and the reaction of those around him when they try and shoot him and he totally doesn’t react the way they think he might.
Fiver I’d suggest seeing if you could rent the movies. They had a much bigger budget then the series and they set up everything. That’d probably be the best route. See if you like em first.
I was really lost when I first started watching it. But I don’t set my life by it. If I notice it will be on that night I’ll make some effort to see it but if I miss it I don’t feel any big loss.
