Back in 2007, as is the case today, androgyny was spelled with that extra “y”, not an “e.” It’s from the Greek root words for “man” (andro) and woman (gyne).
I don’t love 'em for their androgyny, I love 'em for their BRRRAAAAAIIIINNNNNSSSSS!!
Male. Androgynous myself, or inverted or whatever.
Attracted to female people.
I’m not sure how to parse the 3rd question “Are you inclined to think of your preferred sex as androgynous”.
I find understated femaleness attractive and yes I like kinda butchy or tomboyish women.
What sex are you? Female.
What is your orientation? Straight.
Are you more likely to think of your preferred sex as androgenous? No. I am equally likely to think of gender-benders of either sex as androgenous. Androgenous people are androgenous.
Are you attracted to androgeny in your preferred sex? Not exclusively: I’ve been attracted to some manly men, but I’m also attracted to some womanly men. My boyfriend is pretty androgenous, and I find him extremely attractive.
Female, gay here. I totally prefer more androgynous women with short hair, but I don’t like butch. To me there’s a clear difference. Long hair/high heels doesn’t really do it for me, unless it’s Kate Winslet.
I’m fairly androgynous myself, although you wouldn’t take me for a man or automatically think I was gay, necessarily.
Color me a bit confused. I know what the definition of androgynous is: Having both masculine and feminine characteristics.
But when I think of males and females that fit this category, they both tend to look like overtly gay males to me. Is that right?
I have no strong feeling one way or the other on Androgyny.
This is going to sound weird, and may not be what the OP is looking for, but…
I’m more-or-less asexual, and I find most secondary sex characteristics to be unattractive*, or even repulsive. When I try to picture an attractive person in my head, the image is usually androgynous. Especially in males. Beards, broad shoulders, and bulging muscles don’t seem beautiful at all to me.
I’m female, by the way.
*I’m using “attractive” in the aesthetic sense, like a painting or a garden.
