Some storm in NYC tonight, eh?

It’s been thundering and lightning and raining and gusting all night long! :frowning:

I heard some guy got struck by lightning in Soho!

It has calmed down a bit in Queens, but for a while it was a regular light show.

Sam Champion just said we had 10,000 lightning strikes!
Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I was out in it! We parked about 6 blocks away from Googie’s on Sullivan.

The light show was fantastic. Hearing about the guy getting hit a few blocks away from where I was standing makes me feel a little guilty for enjoying it so much.

P.S. I’m still wet!

We had absolutely torrential rains on my last night in Barcelona. It rained so hard it started to hurt.

I live in NYC but was actually in northern Jersey seeing a show that’s a re-telling of the Noah’s Ark tale.

It’s called Norman’s Ark and it’s a gospel-flavored story about a guy in present-day Missouri and his family, trapped by a huge flood on their roof. Norman, played by the wonderful David Garrison, tells a version of the Ark story to pass the time. It’s great and they also use about 200 local children.

But anyway, first it was delayed twenty minutes because the bus from Paterson (carrying many of the kids) was late because of the storm.

Then, at the end, when Mary Gordon Murray as the wife was thanking the Lord that the storm had passed, thunder was all around the auditorium. Very funny.

What wasn’t so funny was waiting for the bus to Newark afterwards, but oh well…

I was in Union Square seeing the 6:00 “Signs” with my fiancee, and afterwards we couldn’t even make it to Sixth Street for Indian before it started pouring.

So there I was, buying YET TWO MORE $2.99 umbrellas from a bodega. And we even passed some time by getting a drink in Global 33. That place is beyond cheesy. I thought it was cool when I was 21.

Out here in the 'burbs, it totally rocked! Heavy, pelting rain and lighting strike accompanied (not followed by, but simultaneously accompanied) by thunder. Awesome!

Sakura and I sat on the glider on the screened-in porch and just dug the cool breeze on our skin and the amazing Zeus Show.

A friend & I had gone to the movies before the rain started, but by the time we got out at quarter to nine, holy hell was it pouring! Thunder, much lightning, etc.

His car had been acting oddly in the days prior but he hadn’t gotten it looked at, so it stalled twice on the mile drive back to my house.

I convinced him to come in for a bit & look at the local weather channel to see what was what concerning the weather pattern (I live on the south shore, he lives on the north); I didn’t want him driving home with a shitty car in a thunderstorm if it was gonna stop soon.

Dumb idea; he ended up leaving an hour later in heavier rain.

I was flying in to Newark when this storm hit. We ended up doing a pit stop in Harrisburg, PA to refuel  Surprisingly enough, we ended up landing at Newark only an hour late.

We flew alongside a giant thunderstorm for much of the flight. Way cool to look at from that perspective. At one point I saw a plane that looked like it was flying over the storm. That would be a view!

This is how you welcome me to New York City?

This was my first night ever visiting Manhattan. I had tickets to “Into the Woods” at the Broadhurst Theater Friday night. It was muggy and hot but nice enough for a walk from the hotel to the theater. GREAT show, but when we got out … thunderstorm city. Had to walk all the way from Times Square (hijack … oh my GOD! Times Square is freaking magnificent! And at midnight! During a thunderstorm! Oh my freaking GOD!) to 32nd street in the rain.

Which all things considered was really pretty cool.
