Some suggestions on movies like...

I would like people to suggest some movies for me to watch. To give an idea of my taste, I loved these:
Lock Stock Two smoking Barrels
To be or not to be
Pulp Fiction
Get Shorty

basically some good humor movies.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

You’re probably looking for a more personal response, but if you’re really desperate (like you’re on your way to the video store right now), go to a movies-for-sale website like www.reel.com – they have mini-lists of the top ten movies by category – suspense, action, comedy, etc.

Good hunting!

If you liked “Pulp Fiction,” you will also like Tarantino’s earlier movie of a similar vein, “Reservoir Dogs.”

Another movie of that genre that is great is “The Usual Suspects.” Both should be findable in the cheap section of the video store now.

“In much wisdom is much grief; and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.” - Ecclesiastes 1:18

I would also suggest The Big Hit, starring the incomparable Marky Mark Wahlberg, which is sort of a spoof on John Woo-type hyper-action flicks. It’s farging hilarious.
Also, have you ever seen Army of Darkness? It’s an absolute classic, and I highly reccomend it.

Oh, balls. I misspelled “recommend”. I hereby correct myself.

OK, the next two videos I am going to rent are
Usual Suspects
The Big Hit

Thanks for the suggestions.

You might also like the work of the Coen brothers. I suggest Fargo. If you like that, try Blood Simple and Miller’s Crossing.

Catrandom

I Went Down - it’s an Irish film from about two years ago. Sort of an “accidental gangster” film, not as violent as the others, but absolutely hilarious.

*Go

El Mariachi

Trainspotting*

… and pretty much everything the other posters have said.

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen is “Ruthless People” with Danny Devito and Bette Midler.

Hilarious!

The most Invisible poster in the history of the boards. Posting invisibly since sept 1999.

I second Army of Darkness. That’s a do not miss.

Also, I liked Mad Dog and Glory. Bill Murray and Robert Deniro were fabulous.

From dusk till dawn
Men in black
tremors

For goofy humor try any one of Mel Brooks films. One of my favorites is “High Anxiety” another would be “History of the World Part 1” and also “Young Frankenstein”

A lot of sexual humor is in his films.

If you are into strange English humor, Monty Python films are great.

You might try “Thick as Theives” with Alec Baldwin.(comedy/drama)

Thug: Where your warrant at?
Cop: You can’t end a sentence with a preposition.
Thug: Where your warrant at, muthafuKer?

Well, other poster have made some good recommendations, so I’ll make some mediocre ones:
A Life Less Ordinary
Four Rooms
Hudson Hawk
The Freshman
Life In Wartime (aka The Alarmist)

I say they’re mediocre ones, since they were not very popular with the general public, but I liked them a lot, and they are definite genre pieces. They’re all funny, irreverant action comedies with lots of ridiculous situations and violations of Safe Gun Handling Practices.

to back-up another post, defintely check out “Go” it is excellent and done in the “Pulp Fiction” style

to not back up another post, personally I thought “The Big Hit” was missing a letter, the last word should have started with “S” as in “The Big _hit”, a really awful movie

Speaking of the Coen brothers, I recommend The Big Lebowski.

“Anger is what makes America great.”

i would definitely agree with the big lebowski:

“i would take the gun away from you and pull the trigger until it goes click”

'jesus christ"

‘you said it man’
ya want a good movie… see “out of sight”

The Big Hit:

The single most ridiculous car chase I have ever seen. In a forest. I couldn’t stop laughing.

If your gonna watch Army of Darkness, You absolutely have to watch Evil dead and Evil Dead II, the first 2 of the trilogy, classics.
