So if God wants to protect Israel, why is he sending the hurricanes to the US, and not to the Arabs threatening them? Why not dry up the oil wells that give the Arabs such a hold over the rest of the world?
I’m sure all the people who’s homes have been hit by tornadoes/hurricanes will love the implication that if they had prayed hard enough - like the farmer in the story - their homes would have been miracously spared.
Also, isn’t the praying farmer a bit too sure that God will spare his farm simply because of the prayer? What about the bit in the Bible about letting God’s will happen, not your own (and that God’s ways are ineffable to man)?

They did a pretty good damn job of stopping Jewish immigration, or at least slowing it down. The worst crisis of the Jewish world is brewing, and they set the immigration quota at 75,000 people over a four year period? 50,000 people interned on Cyprus? Yeah, way to go.
One hotel was bombed, and that hotel, may I remind you, was the headquarters of the British occupation government. And the bombs didn’t go off before the hotel was given three warnings by the group that planted them. Warnings which they ignored.

Hey, that’s not a specious claim, when you think about it. The GWB Administration has consistently avoided any type of environmental reform, up to and including bald-faced censorship with regards to Global Warming. It’s highly evident that Anthropogenic Climate Change is real, and the sudden rise of temperature in the Gulf of Mexico can be directly linked to ultra right-wing government policies – which directly triggered THREE Category Five Hurricanes in 2005, including the most devastating one of our time.
And that doesn’t even include the REAL damage caused by the aftermath of Katrina, by which I mean the pussy-footed, jerk-ass response from FEMA, which was led by GWB’s crony at the time. That’s what people remember.
9/11 was planned by Al-Qaeda, and it’s common knowledge that the FBI, NSA, etc. should have known that something big was about to happen, and they ignored the warning signs. Also, I strongly suspect – not believe, but suspect – that certain high-ranking officials (i.e. Dick Cheney, maybe one or two others) knew exactly what was going down, and they allowed it to happen because they knew they would profit greatly from it (Halliburton, anyone?) in addition to forcing fear-based anti-freedom laws upon America. (Yes…I’m convinced Dick Cheney is that EVIL. I’m not saying he’s responsive, I’m just saying he could have been responsible. It’s within the realm of possibility.)
The current global economic crisis speaks for itself – indeed, this current crisis is basically a “Financial 9/11”, which had the potential to destroy the foundations of our very civilization. What’s happening in the stock market and the banking system RIGHT NOW is a far greater disaster than 9/11, Katrina, and the Metrolink crash combined…and the Republican Conservatives (up to and including GWB) are entirely responsible for this one! (Glass-Steagall Act, anyone?)

In other words, Clinton did not veto the bill because there was no point – so many Congresspeople voted for it (no doubt guided by lobbyists from the banking industry) that they would have easily acquired the 2/3 vote to overturn his veto. Don’t even bother trying to pin this one on Bill Clinton (and he didn’t get us involved in Somalia, either!)
