I was just given a bottle of 1800 Tequila as a gift. Decent stuff as far as tequila goes (meaning it doesn’t make me gag when I smell it). But I can’t figure out the bottle- if you look at the bottle you’ll notice it has a square, hollow glass top that I’ll call the “doorknob” (cus I don’t know what else to call it). There’s a hole in the bottom of the doorknob so that if you turn the tequila bottle upside-down, the tequila will rush into the doorknob. But you can’t pull the doorknob off because the tequila will pour out- if you hold the bottle upside down, it’ll pour out of the bottle, and if you hold it right-side up, it’ll pour out of the doorknob. The hole in the doorknob seems like it’s too small to take the doorknob off, set it down and pour a shot into, even though it holds about a shot. Maybe you’re supposed to decant the tequila to get worms out, although I’ve never seen worms in 1800. What’s the “doorknob” for?
Pardon the poor sentence structure but I’m pretty hungover.
Those who claim this cap has any purpose at all say you have to move quickly; invert the bottle to fill the cap, revert (?) the bottle and quickly remove and invert the cap.
On the other hand, maybe it’s just a distinctive cap.
Nametag, I tried doing the quick inversion thing- with a full bottle you’ll get spillage, with a half-empty bottle you can invert it without any spilling. It just seemed like if they wanted you to do that they would’ve made the hole in the “doorknob” bigger so you could just pour it out.
GaryM, at the rate I’ve been drinking it evaporation isn’t a problem.
