Someone Put the Wrong Cartoon With This Straightdope Classic.

I realize it is not my place to judge. But I felt compelled to bring this to the staff’s attention. They have the wrong cartoon with this Straightdope classic.

Clearly it is titled

And equally clearly that cartoon is of former Soviet head Leonid Brezhnev. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure the Brezhnev cartoon is from another SD classic, possibly one on the excesses of the former Soviet upper class  .

Though someone please correct me if I am wrong  .

I wondered about that cartoon myself, though I wasn’t sure enough of myself to post about it.

I’ll ask Ed, but I did check this against the master list he gave me, and that’s the graphic listed for that particular classic.

Sometimes Slug just sees things from a . . . different perspective.

The linked question and answer is pretty short, so perhaps it was the second part of a two-parter column. The illustration may have been connected to the first part of the column in a way that was actually intelligible in the real people world (such as it is) and not just the Slug world. Or I could be entirely wrong and it is just something from the lovably twisted brain of Mr. Sigarino.

I was going to say that was a good theory, since the filename is “a1_336b.html” and the b probably means it’s the second one.

But on further investigation, I can’t figure out the naming at all. Sometimes the a and b for a given number are years apart.

Regardless, if that is how it works, the other one is probably a1_336a.html, which is not online.

Ed’s told us that there was a goof in which picture got assigned to which column… TubaDiva will get it fixed shortly. Thanks for calling it to our attention.

The illustration has been updated. Click on the link in the OP to check it out.

Looks the same to me. I even tried it from the front page.

I’m getting the updated graphic.
