In all the frenzy of threads over the presidential election and the various anti-SSM initiatives, I don’t think there was any mention made of one small bright spot. The city of Cincinnati repealed its anti-gay charter amendment. The amendment prevented the city from extending any civil rights protection on the basis of sexual orientation and struck down such a law on the books in the city. It withstood an appeals court challenge despite a SCOTUS ruling striking down a similar statewide amendment from Colorado.
In an election season that was so nearly completely disastrous for progressives and our issues, it’s important that this victory be pointed out. Props to the voters of Cincinnati for repealing this heinous ban.
