Something for Conservatives

Well this is fun, but does anyone still want to discuss the OP’s article (and for that matter, does the OP actually want to discuss his article any further) or should we ask the mods to put this thread out of its misery?

Kill it, it has become sentient. I was just sharing an interesting read. It has become so devolved and sidetracked.

For the record before this goes - while Rowe’s statement was well-articulated and not without its merits, the nutpicking of a random person off Facebook (and bearing in mind that one can find people on Facebook or the internet in general saying anything) and portraying them as some sort of representative of the left is not a particularly honest tactic. And while it is true that scepticism is important in science, Rowe’s representation of how it works - and in particular his use of global warming as an example of something to be doubted - speaks to suspicions of an underlying agenda that also is not particularly honest.

So thank you for posting it, anomalous1 but I’m not convinced it in any way makes or supports the point you hoped it would, nor have you yourself made the case.

I’ll also point that that we don’t pick on Clothahump because he’s conservative - there are a lot of conservatives on this board who are able to make coherent, evidence-based arguments and thus don’t come in for this level of abuse. We pick on him because he’s a living breathing example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

You call that living?

That and just by experience I have to point to anomalous1 that while you may had good reasons in the past to become conservative the sight of several moderate Republicans (many from the Bush or other past Republican administrations) sounding alarms about what the current crop of Republicans are up to, should had already made you realize that many Republicans that see science as important (or even morals BTW) do realize that the current party is not like it was it has moved pass them.

It has moved to something very irresponsible and I have noticed that very powerful interests have taken control of many alternative sources of information so as to create misleading information to make the Republican party more unhinged. So much so that many of the loudest conservative posters (there are still some moderates, but I have noticed that the GIGO they get from conservative sources does corrode them a bit too) are examples of people that not only swallow one conspiracy, but several and they are being used more and more as litmus tests for the party.

But any republican that criticizes the current administration are just RHINOs anyway. Look at Romney, party nominee just 5 years ago, and viewed with suspicion as being too moderate.

Well, Romney got nominated because of his moderation-based image of electability, but he was still considered a RINO by the bulk of the party anyway.

Quite the opposite, actually.

That description fits you all to a perfect T, as you have repeatedly demonstrated.

Another masterful, “I know you are but what am I!”, retort by C’hump.

Only took 10 hours this time. He’s getting more clever by the calendar year.

Eh, I don’t pick on Clothahump because he’s an idiot. I do it because he’s an asshole and an idiot. Idiots deserve a modicum of sympathy - they can’t help it they’re dumb. Assholes can absolutely change their actions. Our resident Stable Genius has doubled down, instead.

Hell, at this rate, he’ll have his white belt in “playing well with others” in 150-160 years.

Good lord, this is “I know you are but what am I”.

It occurs to me to wonder if, when he was telling everyone that they argued like five year olds, perhaps he thought he was complimenting them?

More like envy, I think.

I’m smart!

Nope. Just a simple statement of fact.

I really hate to disillusion you, but I have a life. I don’t just sit by the computer all day waiting for you chimps to throw crap at me.

It was probably insulting to five year olds worldwide.

I’ve pointed the fact that you argue like five year olds out repeatedly, and yet you people continue with the five year old tantrums. I thought it was funny at first, but now I seriously wonder about the level of arrested development you people are exhibiting.

You cry like a toddler that just lost a pacifier.

You wouldn’t recognize a simple statement of fact if it stuck its dick in your ear and fuck-started your brain.

You call that a life?

Not really lost, per se, but just out of immediate sight line, and therefore no longer existant to those without the developed mental ability to understand object permanence.

He blames liberals for stealing it from him, even though it was he himself that shoved it up his own ass.

Just going to repost this:

And he’s added a few more to the pile since then.

I particularly love how he posted the definition of the Dunning-Kruger effect and yet, despite his repeated assertions that he’s smarter than everyone here and is winning (“Winning!”) all arguments and his wilful blindness surrounding all the substantive posts (which he claims don’t exist) refuting his various claims of liberal stupidity, he thinks it doesn’t apply to him.

His level of impenetrable ignorance is a marvel to behold. “Illusory superiority” at its best.
