One day Udamann the Master was walking through the village when he came across an angry mob. They were gathered around a woman who was notorious for her bad manners and public braying.
“We’ve had enough!” cried one. “We will have no peace as long as she makes those hideous noises!” cried another. “Cut out her tongue!” said a third. “Stone her, stone her!” they began to chant.
Then Udamann began to stare them into silence. When the mumblings of the crowd became less distinct and sounding more like “rutabega, rutabega,” he said unto them, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”
A woman’s voice called, “Let me through! Let me through!” And the crowd parted as a beautiful and venerated woman approached.
As she reached Udamann, she spoke again, “I am perfect, thank you.” And with that she hurled the large rock in her hand.
