There’s this thread that popped up again in the Pit - “Fucking Scammer Motherfuckers” (I’m not linking to it for a reason). Whenever I click on it, my antivirus revs up, and the link won’t open. Considering the subject matter of the thread, I suspect something very fishy may be going on. Can someone look into it?
Edit: Also, I probably should have posted this in ATMB, so if you can also move it I’d be grateful.
I didn’t go through the whole thread but I just opened it, and it looks fine and my anti-virus didn’t complain. It’s not unusual for some AVs to trigger on false positives. It may have been a sketchy ad if you normally see them. We did have issues with occasional malware-laden ads in the past, back in the vBulletin days.
Something around post 500 in that thread is triggering my anti-virus on both Chrome and Firefox. If I scroll down from the top the last post it displays is 494, and if I scroll up from the bottom the earliest post it displays is 501. So the problem post is somewhere between 495 and 500.
My anti-virus says the web page is infected with HTML-FakeCaptcha-D.
My anti-virus won’t let me see the posts so I can’t tell what’s triggering it.
Request to mods: please report your issue to reporter Brian Krebs at his website after you figure things out, as appropriate. I’ll break the link myself:
