Sometimes browsing my Steam library is like putting on an old coat and finding $20 in the pocket

I was bored yesterday, and was taking a look at the games in my Steam library, to see if I felt like playing anything, when I noticed something surprising.

I own a digital copy of Space Marine.

I don’t recall ever buying a copy of it. I tried the demo right before it came out, and wasn’t all that impressed. Very pretty, but the gameplay wasn’t all that. So, I deleted the demo, and kind of forgot about it.

Apparently, however, at some point between then and now, I bought something else, and Space Marine came with it. Maybe a bundle, maybe a bonus game for buying something else. No clue where it came from, or how long I’ve owned it. But there it was, so I installed it and gave it a whirl. Still not a great game, but worth considerably more than I paid for it. Which was nothing.

Not a bad deal!

For me it’s usually the opposite. I’ll see a game I was interested in but didn’t think I’d ever gotten. So I’ll fire it up only to remember quickly that I had tried it, and it had sucked ball. So I get to relive the disappointment.

So, more like putting on an old coat, and finding an unpaid parking ticket in the pocket?

I don’t really use Steam due to some of the ‘packaging’ for a lot of their games that require/rely heavily on having an online connection, but I do have a “hey, free money I forgot about!” reaction all the time with my Good Old Games account. I tend to pick up titles I might be interested when they go on sale, and stumble across them later after I’d forgotten about 'em.

I have onemore than one occasion tried to buy a game I already own. Oops!
