The Associated Press is reporting that David Berkowitz, aka Son of Sam, has responded to a Fox News Channel request for comment on the Washington, D.C.-area sniper.
Berkowitz, of course, had nothing enlightening to say about the tragedy, except to plead with the sniper to stop, a plea that I’m sure the sniper will heed out of professional respect. Sheesh.
What in the name of Geraldo does Fox News think it would add to coverage of this story by seeking comment from another mass murderer? Is this what comes of Hannibal Lecter sequels?
It’s insensitive to the families of the victims of the sniper and to Berkowitz’s victims’ families. Not to mention totally worthless in terms of journalistic value.

You saw the same sort of thing after the Challenger disaster and even during Berkowitz’s rampage in 1974. The press has nothing to report (the authorities are keeping what little they know under wraps) and they have to grab the public’s attention somehow, so they make moves that seem bizarre and idiotic.
Why are you people always picking on Fox News? They have liberals, you know. For example, there’s that Colmes guy. He sports thick glasses, wears ill fitting suits, and always has unkempt hair. What more do you want?

Be that as it may - the media interviewed him for the sensationalism of it. Yes, by all means, scratch his back and make him feel important by asking /his/ opinion.

The media-related idiocy that I’m fondest of right now runs along the following lines:
“BREAKING NEWS!!! THE SNIPER MAY BE WATCHING THE NEWS AND RESPONDING BASED ON OUR REPORTS!”
You know, I’d also really have to question the sincerity of his"christianity" (not that I give a shit anyway) since he has never expressed any remorse for his victims and actually has tried to deny his own culpability, choosing instead to concoct some “satanic” cult who supposedly comitted the murders and just made Berkowitz a patsy. So FUCK david Berkowitz. Fuck him up his murdering ass.
I’m with Diogenes. Let God (if there is such a thing) forgive him and reward him in the next life. As for THIS one, he fucked it up, and let there be no forgiveness. As Fenris said, when he can bring his victims back, with no recollection of the horror he inflicted on them, THEN I’ll consider forgiveness.
