Song ID: "Hold me and love me" NOT Lady GaGa

In the Lady GaGa song “Lovegame” there is the phrase “Hold me and love me, just wanna touch you for a minute”, as heard here at about :35.

The tune and the words of that phrase really ring a bell with me. I want to say from a 1990’s R&B or dance song, possibly something from the Nutty Professor soundtrack?

13 virtual dollars to whoever can prove I’m not crazy!

Lovefool, by The Cardigans?

That’s the first thing I thought of. And by “thought of” I mean “had a vague notion about, but absolutely zero idea of the artist or title”.

Nope, I know Lovefool and it’s not really the same words, and not the same tune.

The song I’m thinking about had the same tune during that phrase and the same or very similar words.

Well, Madonna’s Celebration has the same tune, but not the same words (and it’s too recent.) I’m wondering what song it could be. It’s kind of a common melody (I think of it as a riff on the taunting melody, or “It’s Raining It’s Pouring”/“Ring Around the Rosy.”) But the words coupled with the melody do sound familiar–however, a lot of Lady Gaga’s songs do that to me. There’s several of her tunes I could have sworn were hits in the 90s.

“Can’t read my” in Poker Face does that to me as well. I don’t know why!
