Songs for the heat of the moment...

I could use some help, I am trying to think of songs that go with the heat of the moment, you know, when its just the two of you and you are relaxing in front of the fire, or gazing at the stars.

So far I only have a couple and they are listed w/ the artist. Please add to this list as you choose.

Thanks.

  1. Crimson and Clover - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  2. I’ll Make Love to You - Boyz II Men
  3. All My Life - K-Ci & JoJo

I’ve always thought that My Bloody Valentine’s “Loveless” (the entire album, played as a whole) provides an ideal soundtrack for the more intimate moments in life. Also, a good many of Bjorks songs are excellent tunes to accompany the sex act. Brian Eno’s ambient stuff, too…

For gazing at the stars, I like Miles Davis’ Shhh/Peaceful from his album “In a Silent Way”.

For the more “physical” moment, how about Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, or Wagner’s “Ride of the Walkyries”?

Asia - Heat of the moment

C’mon, someone had to do it

For some great lovemakin’ music, listen to the album Mandyllion by the (Dutch) band The Gathering. It is often discribed as fairy tale metal. Listen to it to find out what THAT means!

Whenever I’m doing rituals, I always put on a Loreena McKennitt album. It’s cheesy, I know.

I once made a “music to screw by” compilation on my computer, which included (I’m not kidding):

Mylene Farmer, “Pourvu qu’elles soient douces”
Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”
“Phantom of the Opera” dance mix
Pulp, “Common People”
Theme from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Amber, “Sexual”

This probably says more about me than about any of those songs.

Crash by Dave Matthews Band is pretty much universal for college ages.

“Hike up your skirt a little more and show your world to me…”

Some friends and I were debating the “Top 10 make-out CDs of all time” last year. Naturally we didn’t come to any concensus, but we did start from a list on the Internet which I thought was not bad, though they are a bit old for me, and I might not listen to them otherwise

  1. Barry White’s Greatest Hits
  2. Van Morrisson, Moondance
  3. Sade, Love Deluxe
  4. Johnny Mathis, Most Requested Songs
  5. Cocteau Twins, Four calendar cafe
  6. Portishead, Dummy
  7. Luther Van Dross, Best of Love/ Best of Luther Van Dross
  8. Dusty Springfield, Dusty in Memphis
  9. Frank Sinatra, In the Wee Hours
  10. Marvin Gaye, Let’s get it on

Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue
World Party - Goodbye Jumbo album. Er…maybe that’s not the name of the album. Hmmm…

Everyone knows that for “date” music you use Led Zeppelin IV.
