Songs I never need to hear again

Another vote for “Free Bird”. Please, just never play it again.

Also, “Stairway to Heaven”. It didn’t make any sense 35 years ago, it still doesn’t make any damn sense.

The year Titanic came out, the local NPR station had the soundtrack as a giftie for people who became “members”. And they played that goddamn friggin’ song every time the announcers got on to tell us how marvelous it was to be a public radio member.

One morning I was getting ready for work and couldn’t take it any more. I called in and said I’d do a $120 pledge if and only if they stopped playing that damned song for the next hour.

They did.

The same public radio station once played “In a Gadda Da Vida” until they got $500 in pledges. That was hilarious.

A co-worker once randomly told me that he and his wife liked to have sex to that song.

I always thought that PBS TV stations would get a lot more pledges a lot faster if, instead of rolling out all their best stuff, they’d run episodes of Full House, Cop Rock, and The Jerry Springer Show relentlessly (maybe a little 1980s SNL thrown in too), to remind people of what the alternative to public TV is.

Not sure of the title but the chorus goes, Close the window da da da & it will be alright. Absolute dreck!!

“We’re All Alone.”

Rita Coolidge has a version.
Boz Scaggs has a version.
In my neck of the woods, a local DJ made a THIRD version combining the two.
Have a nice day!
