Songs indelibly linked to a movie

it was mentioned earlier, kinda, but Ruby Tuesday & Hey Jude always make me think of The Royal Tennebaums

Bowie’s Something in the Air and Memento

Stefenwulf’s Magic Carpet Ride and Go

BNL’s One Week and American Pie

and of course, a bunch of other good ones that have already been mentioned.

The 72d’s Farewell to Gibraltar–Tunes of Glory, a wonderful dark Alix Guinness and John Mills
movie about the ostracizing of a new battalion commander in the British Army

Men of Harlech–Zulu, Michael Caine’s first big film, and of course

[Tex Ritter Voice]
“Dew nought forrrsake meee, Ho my darrr-lynnn”
[end voice]
from High Noon.

Unfortunately, O Fortuna is the theme music for seemingly every Gothic horror movie trailer I see.

Ravel’s Bolero always reminds me of Atouk trying to have sex with the sedated Lana in Caveman.

And any song used in the movie Heavy Metal brings that movie to mind. Usually the scene as well.

… I watched that movie way too much as a teenager. :dubious:

“Tiny Dancer” and Almost Famous
“Sister Christian” and Boogie Nights
“Oobie Doobie” and ST:First Contact

I had forgotten about “Bittersweet Symphony” in Cruel Intentions.
I remember it in Midnight.

The Foundation’s “Build me up Buttercup”- There’s Something About Mary

I have the same reaction with that song, and with “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Any version, although the Mario Lanza version especially.

Karl, Adagio for Strings was also the theme music for The Elephant Man.

“Chain of Fools” – The Committments

“Moon River” – Breakfast at Tiffany’s

“Cavaleria Rusticana” – Raging Bull

“Put the Blame on Mame” – Gilda

Are you referring to the scene where Marty is in his father’s bedroom and plays the Van Halen clip through the headphones? If so, this is not Eruption. It was a clip that Eddie recorded specifically for the movie and never released on a Van Halen album.

And now you’re probably going to ask for a cite and I don’t have one :frowning: .

Isn’t “Fanfare for the Common Man” from “The Natural”?

I’ve got two other choices: “Damn it feels good to be a gangster” and “Office Space”, and “Summer in the city” and “Die Hard with a vengeance”.

“Moving in Stereo” by the Cars- Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Johnny B. Goode, from that movie where Michael J. Fox traveled to 1955, then back to the future.

“Stuck in the Middle with You” from Reservoir Dogs. I cannot hear that song without thinking of the ear, nor can anyone I know. Anyone I know that has seen the movie, that is.
I also saw some garbage vampire film (The Forsaken, I think it was called) where one of the vampires starts singing “Enter Sandman”…now I can’t listen to it without thinking of a crappy film, so I think the film is linked to the song.

Unchained Melody…Ghost
Suzy Q and Satisfaction… Apocolypse Now

Surfin’ Bird: Full Metal Jacket

Also forgot to mention that I cannot hear “Midnight Train to Georgia” without hearing Albert Brooks in my head: “I can sing while I read…I am sing-ing and read-ing both!”

“Suicide is Painless” and MASH*.

“(I Would Walk) 500 Miles” and Benny and Joon.

Should’ve included this one in my previous post:

I always think of the opening scene in the first Lethal Weapon movie whenever I hear “Jingle Bell Rock.”

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Queen song, not sure what it’s called and Highlander.
