I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know…
Say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to- SHUT UP ALREADY AND I’LL SAY IT, DAMN YOU!
I’m trying to think of the song title, but it’s not coming to me. I’m concentrating, but it’s going to take time. A whole lotta precious time. It’s going to take plenty of time.
They had some modest success - biggest song was probably “Only a Memory”.
What bothered the piss out of me was that all their “hits” ended with the singer (Pat Nunzio ?) repeating the title over and over and over…
I pointed this out to a friend of mine who loved the band. He came back ans said I ruined the band for him because he would fixate on their repetitions.
So I nominate all of The Smithereens’ popular tracks.
Back in the 70s, I was a big fan of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, owned multiple versions of the soundtrack, etc. A few years later, I pondered singing “Hot Patootie Bless My Soul” as an audition piece for something or other, and noticed the grating repetition on that and on nearly every other song in the show.
