Songs that are too repetitive

Lots of songs have the singer singing the same thing over and over. But sometimes it’s too much.

For my entry, a few months ago Rush had a single called “Caravan”.

I guess, if I understand what he’s saying 50,000,000 times, Geddy Lee can’t stop thinking big.

Other than that, it’s a pretty good song.

Anyway, what songs do you think the singer should cut down on the repetition?

Jesus is Just All Right With Me
China Grove

Just about all the Doobie Brothers songs, in fact, and a lot of disco as well.

Silly Love Songs. I can’t stand it.

Give me just one more night to think about this…

Brick House by the Commodores.

Sure thing Phil.

I can never remember the name of that Go-Gos song…it’s something like “We Got the Asparagus” or “We Got New Deals on Tires” or something…

‘Hey Jude’. Those endless "na"s are just too much, I love the song but rarely sit through it until the end.

All The Way Turnt Up by Roscoe Dash.

Go ahead and close the thread.

Let me just drink a few Tom Collins and mull it over a bit more.

And who let the fucking dogs out again?

Someone’s knocking at the door. Someone’s ringing the bell.
Someone’s knocking at the door. Someone’s ringing the bell.

I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know…

Say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to say, say what you need to- SHUT UP ALREADY AND I’LL SAY IT, DAMN YOU!

I’m trying to think of the song title, but it’s not coming to me. I’m concentrating, but it’s going to take time. A whole lotta precious time. It’s going to take plenty of time.

There’s a band called The Smithereens.

They had some modest success - biggest song was probably “Only a Memory”.

What bothered the piss out of me was that all their “hits” ended with the singer (Pat Nunzio ?) repeating the title over and over and over…

I pointed this out to a friend of mine who loved the band. He came back ans said I ruined the band for him because he would fixate on their repetitions.

So I nominate all of The Smithereens’ popular tracks.

George Harrison set the bar high with “I’ve Got My Mind Set on You” and Weird Al did his follow up to it with “This Song’s Just Six Words Long”

Back in the 70s, I was a big fan of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, owned multiple versions of the soundtrack, etc. A few years later, I pondered singing “Hot Patootie Bless My Soul” as an audition piece for something or other, and noticed the grating repetition on that and on nearly every other song in the show.

Every song by The Black Crowes.

Da do do do da da da da da

Thats all I have to say to you.

Your love is like a rollercoaster baby baby
