How about
“Lonely…I’m Mr. Lonely…”
How about
“Lonely…I’m Mr. Lonely…”
Well, this doesn’t fit the original OP, but it’s the one I keep thinking of:
**Lonely **by Tom Waits
Lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely eyes,
Lonely face, lonely lonely in your place.
Lonely, lonely, lonely eyes, lonely face,
Lonely lonely in your place.
I thought that I knew all that there was to
Lonely, lonely, lonely…
Melanie Jane, won’t feel the pain.
Lonely, lonely, lonely eyes, lonely eyes,
Lonely lonely in your place.
And I thought that I knew all that there was to
Lonely, lonely, lonely eyes, lonely eyes,
Lonely lonely in your place, and
I still love you, I still love you,
Lonely, lonely…
I thought it was “a long, lonely time…”
A very current song.
Leave Me Alone, I’m Lonely. by P!nk. Catchy tune. I like it a lot.
No one’s mentioned tortured genius Daniel Johnston yet. I reckon at least a quarter of his songs fit the bill, with repeated use of ‘lonely’ and ‘alone.’
Off the top of my head, Rock n Roll/EGA goes:
If I ever thought that I could be happy/
Dreams like that always faded away/
And all the girls already had boyfriends/
I was alone as lonely could be.
One of my favorite obscure songs: ‘South’ by Five Easy Pieces
It’s chorus is:
‘I’m not lonely, just all alone.’
