Songs that mention a time of day

“5:15 AM” by Mark Knopfler, which is a different song. Like them both.

BTO-Takin’ Care Of Business

And a different time, I think, as I am pretty sure The Who’s song is about a train at 5:15 PM, a train to take London commuters back home.

“My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine till five and then…”
Sheena Easton.
(The song was entitled Nine to Five" when originally released in Britain, but the title was changed to “Morning Train”, in America, because of the similarly titled Dolly Parton song, and associated movie, that came out at about the same time.)

I am constantly tempted to think that The Doors’ “Five to One” is a reference to a time, but, of course, it isn’t really.

That does remind me, however, that in The Doors’ “The End,” “The killer awoke around midnight.”

Matchbox Twenty, 3am

Lily Allen, Who’d Have Known,
and then T-Pain sampling the same song, with his awful autotuning featured, called 5 O’Clock

:o:( Perhaps I misremembered that one. A lyrics site says he awoke “before dawn”, which is probably not a precise enough time to count.

I have another though:

“Well, she comes around here
Just about midnight”

  • “Gloria” by Them (Van Morrison).

Sure, but, “Does anybody really know what time it is?”

24 hours to go, “I wanna be sedated”.
…Close enough for rock & roll.

Does anybody really care?
