Not a car, but Little Honda by The Hondells
Rush Red Barchetta
Another Mercedes:
Johnny Duncan The Lady In The Blue Mercedes.
Then somewhere in the evening came a heavenly voice
Saying thank you for a wonderful day.
Then the beautiful lady in the blue Mercedes
Blew a kiss . . .
. . . and drove away.
In Hotel California the line is “she’s got the Mercedes bends”. At least that’s what it had on the lyrics sheet on the album.
“Rapture” by Blondie mentions eating a Suburu (among other domestic cars).
Datsun? How old is Kanye West?
Barenaked Ladies - If I Had a Million Dollars - (Plymouth) Reliant
I actually looked up where the Reliant was built, because Chrysler does have a factory in Canada (Windsor, Ontario). But the Reliant was built in the US, so it was an import from BNL’s perspective.
Short Skirt / Long Jacket
“She’s changing her name
From Kitty to Karen
She’s trading her MG for a white Chrysler LeBaron”
The Garden of Allah - Don Henley
Nice car
I love those Bavarians
So meticulous
Harvey and Sheila - Allan Sherman
Traded their used MG
For a new XKE
Switched to the GOP
That’s the way things go
Some productions of The Mikado add a spoof verse to “Mi-ya Sa-ma”:
Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Sony, Seiko, Yamaha…
Richard Thompson: MGB Gt
She’s a Runner!
The Jaguar XKE seems to have been one of the go-to fast cars in 1960s car songs (and the Stingray, but that was domestic).
Another such example is Hey Little Cobra by The Rip Cords:
I took my Cobra down to the track
Hitched to the back of my Cadillac
Everyone was there just a waiting for me
There were plenty of Stingrays and XKEs
Besides the XKE, could the Cobra be considered an import? It started out as a British car, which was then modified by Carroll Shelby in the US. Wikipedia describes it as a “British-American” car.
There is mention of a Honda in that song as well
That reminds me, there was a Beach Boys song called “Little Honda”, albeit it was about a motorcycle rather than a car.
“The Wreck of the Barbie Ferrari” by John Hiatt
Maneater by Hall and Oates
" . . .The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar"
“Black Lexus” by Joseph Arthur
