Even Squier has admitted this video pretty much ruined his career.
And here I was thinking it was that ridiculously huge tube sock that he wore in those skin-tight pants. Phew! Glad that fashion faux pas has passed. Right up there with silk shirts unbuttoned way down to there with your fake gold ‘sign’ necklace.
How YOU doin’ honey? :o
Try watching early Bon Jovi videos.
Oh, and the video for Seperate Ways from Journy, what the hell was up with that?
Let’s try that again.

Nice coding.
But, yeah, that Journey video is pretty bad. What was the budget? 30-40 bucks?
Thanks . Heeeeyyyy, wait a minute…
No! The part in “Pale Shelter” where they’re walking somberly down a pathway as schoolchildren throw paper airplanes at their heads! It’s supposed to be soooo serious and all you can do is giggle.
I’d have to say the worst song-ruining video for me would be OMD’s “Enola Gay”, which I somehow (thankfully!) managed never to see until about a year ago. It consists mainly of the dorky and extremely non-photogenic singer miming and dancing awkwardly as he plays his guitar for the camera. Honestly, I loved that song so much, and I can’t help cringing when I hear it now.
Hey! I will not have bad things said about LIAB or Shadows of the Night! These are both classics of the storytelling genre. I mean come on, how can you not love PB and the gang done up in WW2 fighter pilot drag taking on the Nazis, and PB and the spooky dime-a-dance girls rebeliously shimmying in triumph? Plus PB’s breasts in LIAB were declared scariest body part in a video by Weird Al.
Useless trivia: LAB is the first video to ever feature dialog from outside the song.
I will, however, have bad things spoken about PB’s video for Sex as a Weapon (except for the hot bodybuilder who shows up about 2/3 of the way in).
Rainbow should never have been allowed to make videos.
I saw the videos to both “Street of Dreams” and “Still Can’t Let You Go”, both of which are good songs, both of which had totally crappy videos, before hearing the songs sans video. I managed to get over the “Street of Dreams” video, but I still cringe at the thought of Ritchie Blackmore in a top hat carrying an unconscious girl around, and laying her on a bed to be menaced by Joe Lynn Turner.
I can’t say videos to songs ruin what songs I like or dislike.
However, I realized that the Beatles did great, great videos to the songs they sung, especially in their movies. But when they deparated, only George Harrison seems to gave a darn about doing good videos (Yes, I think being able to perform off-the wall backflips in time is always relevant to any song you sing. Especially love ballads.)
Paul’s songs make for great videos, only for its narration; but all he does is either sits on the piano, or do something almost totally irrelevant to the song (I see his ‘Say say say’ video, the one he did with Michael Jackson, with the two being snake-oil salesmen, and I think that several other songs are more appropriate to the video, such as ‘All along the Watchtower’). Only ‘Coming Up’ shows a brillance that matches his best songs.
John did OK with ‘Merry Xmas’, however, the rest of his videos are mostly home video collages. Sometimes they are good, but not all of the time.
And Ringo–he look likes a rapper showing off his gear.

Obviously not enough for instruments! Yeah, I’d forgotten this one. But it doesn’t revolt me the way the Heart video does. The Heart video actually HAD a budget; I mean, they spent MONEY to produce that piece of crap. The journey video was probably shot in two hours.
