Sons of Anarchy: Final season sucks!

So, I’ve devoted weeks of Netflix viewing to Sons of Anarchy – I’m hanging on because I want to see how it ends and I love the Venus/Tig storyline.

But, damn, is this a horrible season! In one day Jax & Co. have murdered about 200 rivals and nearly every scene is an orgy of blood. It’s totally unbelievable – not that it ever was really believable when the MC turned into a killing machine – but we’ve jumped the blood-soaked shark.

I’m futzing around on the Dope while it plays in the background and occasionally asking DW what’s going on. Six more episodes to go . . . pray for me.

. . . but they did finally kill off Tara, the pouty, stupid “doctor.”

You think you’re going to give up on the show? I’m not going to let that happen  [/jax teller]

(Now you have no choice but to let that happen)

EEEEEEK! Jax ALWAYS lets it happen! (Runs from thread).

Just make it quick, k?

The trick is to think of it as a comedy, then it becomes one of the funniest shows ever made.

It actually started out as a pretty good show which IMO disqualifies it from Under the Dome status.

Yeah, it went pretty far down in the last season and a half. We did have a lot of fun with the streaming descriptions, which varied from: “Jax has trouble holding the club together as outside forces try to tear them apart” to “Old enemies of the club come for their due as Jax tries to protect the club.” And everything in between.

The script for the final season would have been easy to write:

JAX: I’ll handle it. You take the back and when the Niners get here, kill 'em. When the Mayans come 10 minutes later for the gun shipment, kill 'em.

CUT TO AUTOMATIC WEAPON CARNAGE. ALL THE NINERS AND THEN THE MAYANS ARE MOWED DOWN. MIRACULOUSLY, NO SONS ARE KILLED.

TIG: Love ya, brother! (Hugs Jax).

Repeat what is the essentially the same scene for 52 minutes.

Well, more seriously…
Jax has spent considerable effort over several seasons to “move away from the things that hurt us.”
Only to have his efforts undermined by not only old business partners (the IRA mostly, as well as Mexican Drug Cartels), but mostly by the “Ready, Fire, Aim” methodology of his own club members.
Jax adopts a similar attitude after the death of his wife, kicking off a three- or four-way war; one of the “sides” being, ironically, fellow charters of the SoA with the killing of the Pres. of the Vegas Charter over a misunderstanding.

I watched the series from beginning to end recently as well. I thought the last season was pretty silly, but at least it wrapped things up, kind of. Plus I liked Jimmy Smits, and I could always get some entertainment out of thinking to myself: “Run, Nero! Run for your life!!”

My least favourite season was the Year of the Many Fake Irish Accents.

I just finished the series myself last night. While I agree that the last season was a big of a slogfest, the last three episodes were pretty good.

I also enjoyed reading the reviews on tv dot com and avclub dot com after watching the episodes.

I do feel a tad sad that Sons has ended for me :frowning:

Love you my brother.

I gave up about three episodes into season 6. The show started getting pretty silly with the trip to Ireland but was still pretty good but by season 5 had gone full on stupid. No one was doing anything that made any kind of sense anymore when season 6 started so I walked away. Everyone dies? I assumed that everyone dies.

Well, I’m happy(?) to announce that we finally finished Sons last night. Meh . . .

IMHO, the “Ireland is really in Southern California” season and this final season could have been totally cut from the series and it would have had a pretty tight 4-5 season run. I also think it was a big mistake to lose Ron Perlman; with the exception of the “hey! We’re in Belfast!” he really held it together for me.

I would like a spin-off that follows the adventures of Tig and Venus.

We watched a few eps of Bojack Horseman last night, def. gonna continue. I need a break from murder before returning to Justified.
