Yep that was him.
“Where is she?”
“Where’s who?”

Okay, the cat’s out of the bag: Gemma knows about Abel, and keels over.
Previews indicate that Stahl’s back in the picture (reasonable enough, as I doubt Tara would try to doctor Gemma’s heart attack from a backroom in the club, and previews show Gemma in a hospital room, soooo…).
I’m trying to figure out how SAMCRO’s going to get Stahl to recant and admit that she shot Edmond Hayes, not Gemma. That’s going to be tough, as it’s not only a career-ender for Stahl, but also quite possibly prison time.
Of course, Gemma did shoot and kill Polly Sobelle in the same house about 5 minutes later, so she’s still on the hook for a body full of bullets…
I’m thinking that, over the next few episodes, we’re going to find out whether the writing is going to be at least equal to that of The Shield. Becuase the way all these threads are brought together and handled could be fantastic, if the writing is up to it.
If not, it’ll be a craptacular series-killer (for me, at least).
I’m in a similar frame of mind, ExTank, and will keep watching as long as things don’t get ridiculous. But I suspect that may be a tall order.
I keep wondering why Hal Holbrook signed on for his part in all this.
One thing’s for sure: they better hurt that priest, and I’d rather Stahl be set on fire than to be persuaded to recant!
Another bump for ExTank, I’m willing to suspend disbelief a lot for this show but I have my limits. I think they’re handling the bail situation from last season’s assault charges well and at least somewhat realistically. It’s nice that they didn’t just drop that thread after Zobelle left town.
The Gemma on the run storyline seems like a way to get Stahl back for another season - which I wholeheartedly support - but they may have painted themselves into a corner. I don’t see Stahl recanting either and it’s not as though killing Stahl resolves the issue. Will they send Mama Teller to jail?
I’ve been digging Hal Holbrook, his performance kept me interested in Nate. If it had been some no-name actor I probably would have been bored with that arc.
So it looked like the priest sold Abel…do black market baby-hockers do returns? I wondered if they might get the wrong baby back but then it occurred to me that Abel’s health problems have probably left distinctive scars, between that and DNA it seems hard to misidentify him even in the short term.
Does anyone understand the priest’s motives for keeping Abel? I get that the priest and Jimmy O are butting heads and that Jimmy O wants to 86 the SoA but I still don’t understand why hanging onto Abel is productive for either side. Thoughts?
The priest wants the Sons to come to Belfast so they can decapitate the MC, which they no longer want to do business with and for some reason want out of the picture. Perhaps as a peace offering to the ATF. They will also try to cap Jimmy, who doesn’t want the Sons coming to Belfast. The priest expected Trixie to inform Gemma earlier, but overestimated her abilities.
Stahl will try to get Gemma to flip on the MC in exchange for leniency in sentencing. We saw as much in the previews. Gemma isn’t likely to go for it. What Gemma should do is hire a lawyer and say instruct the lawyer to pursue a defense that says that she walked in and Stahl disarmed her and shot both the lovers and emptied her gun and got Gemma to put her fingerprints on the gun the way it really happened. There is enough physical evidence to get Stahl in a lot of trouble in view of the fact that she was already alone during the encounter when she should have had back up and in view that her file already shows her screwing up and getting Opie’s wife Donna killed.
Dude, thanks! I feel like such and idiot. When the priest and Trixie were talking about getting real IRA to do stuff instead of the SoA I was conflating SAMCRO and the Belfast SoA. :smack: Makes so much more sense now.
I should really nap at work so as to be alert for tv time.
I know Trixie is Maureen and the priest probably has a name too but damned if I’ve heard it yet.
She’ll always be Trixie the Whore to me.
I can’t understand a word that stupid priest says. Their accents are more incomprehensible than actual Belfast accents, and that’s saying something.
So the priest wants the Sons out of the picture, but Jimmy O doesn’t? Why do they have conflicting interests?
Are Jemma and Clay in on the Jax plan?
Probably not.
Of course Gemma and Clay aren’t in on Jax’s maneuver, that would be sensible.
Jax’s deal with Stahl won’t work out the way he’s planning but if it did, it would be a hat trick for Prince Teller.
The obvious benefits of reducing/eliminating everybody’s jail time and revenge on the Irish are just icing on the cake, if Jax succeeds in betraying the IRA to the ATF to save the SOA, he’ll achieve his series-long goal of getting SAMCRO out of the gun business.
It’s no surprise to viewers that Jax cut a deal with Stahl - okay, okay, I was shocked and really impressed by last night’s ep - but we’ve seen Jax reach out to Uncer, Hale, and even Stahl when she first arrived on the show in an attempt to secure the safety of the club. SAMCRO remains blissfully ignorant of the bulk of those efforts. How do the Sons, even those who always throw in with in with Jax, receive the news that their VP turned the MC upside down without any input from the rest of the charter?
Jax’s plan to betray the IRA gives him zero motivation to tread lightly when he goes to Belfast for Abel. We’ve been teased from the beginning about SoA’s dark and complicated past, what will Jax uncover across the pond?
I’ve been assuming that Gemma and Clay murdered Papa Teller because John wanted to change the direction of the MC. I still mostly think that but now I wonder about the Irish involvement during that time. I think we might find out that Maureen’s daughter is Jax’s half sister.
Oh, and Tara is preggers. Gemma had the balls to say that Tara should have died before letting Cam take Abel. Good for Gemma. It’s not a nice thing to say and it might not even be fair but it’s been a burr under Jax’s saddle all season - needed to be said.
Tara’s pregnancy gives her one of those good, t.v.-logic, dramatic excuses for not dying to save Abel. I’m a Jax/Tara fan so that actually works for me. I’m a little disappointed though. Yes, Gemma would have died before capitulating and that’s the MC way but Tara’s an interesting character because she’s NOT 100% MC. I’d rather she argue that it was smarter to live to fight another day. Then Jax could forgive her or not and we could be spared the contrived extra drama of another baby. I cheer when Tara gets more like Gemma, season 2 was fun that way, but there has to be balance or Tara’s just Gemma Lite and then who gives a shit?
ATF Agent June Stahl is one evil bitch.
