Spoilers…
When the subplot with Gemma’s Dad’s caregiver happened I felt the “Oh, brother” feeling.
Or was it the trip to Ireland?
Maybe just having Henry Rollins as a guest.

I would say it wasn’t until Season 8.
I am still enjoying it but come on. Things did start getting ridiculous.
This season is going really OTT. Jimmy Smith’s ridiculous pimp, Opie SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER for no reason, Harold Perrineau playing Satan… none of the characters seem to follow any form of logic.
So I’m saying Jax saving Ron Perlman at the end of last season and the subsequent nonsense.
IMO the show is still fantastic and has not yet jumped the shark.
I really enjoy the show but only because I view it for what it is, a soap opera. As such, it’s a lot of fun - but it’s not great drama.
I tried it and made it through the first three or four episodes of season one. Does it get better? All that it seems to have going for it is shock value, and since it’s not on pay cable it’s got to pull it’s punches even in that regard.
If it were on HBO and could go full bore with nudity and violence I can see it holding my attention. But after watching Game of Thrones it seems like a Disney movie. If the dramatic elements aren’t worth watching, what is?
It’s still a good show with good actors. Granted, you do have to wonder just how much trouble a small MC can manage to get themselves into.
It’s fun, but they are the most incompetent criminal gang ever.
I wouldn’t call them small. They have many, many chapters that span continents.
Yes, they are intercontinentally incompetent. But I still love it.
There isn’t a single multi-season series that doesn’t suffer from some degree of ridiculousness. I stand by my assessment.
Even Breaking Bad ?
Regarding SOA I watched most of the first season of it. But couldn’t get into it. I think I may of been more into it if I didn’t recognize most of the actors. It was basically Sopranos on motorcycles but not as good.
Sorry.
Someone plays Satan? I am not current on the show, but that certainly is a good one.
No, no one plays Satan. A very powerful and connected criminal’s innocent daughter got killed by a biker, and he acts predictably vengeful.
Even Breaking Bad. Doesn’t make it a bad show…all drama shows need it to some extent else they would be as boring as real life. It comes down to how much and how it is handled. Especially important is that the ridiculousness is internally consistent.
No need to apologize for what you like and what you don’t like. If everyone liked the same shows, there would only be one channel.
Yes, but there is “some degree of ridiculousness” and a small town biker gang going to Ireland to recover the baby of one of its members kidnapped as part of a high level IRA feud. Oh yeah. Culminating in one ATF shooting another for some reason.
Thats exactly what i am talking about. Oh, and when Gemma holds a gun to baby’s head…
I am not sure i can follow this into the 4th seaon. For TV drama its pretty damn good though.
The whole baby stealing affair was so ridiculous I’ve replaced the phrase “jumped the shark” with “stole the baby.”
I still watch though.
Oh, come on. Powerful guy appears out of nowhere offering deals at a price and killing his own henchmen just for laughs. The symbolism is quite obvious.
