Alright, I do not have access to HBO right now, and so am unable to watch the first few weeks, so I’m debating whether I should just keep up with what’s going on with youse guys here, or if I should put a moratorium on my Sopranos info until this season comes out on DVD, so I can watch the whole thing fresh.
A moratorium will be extremely difficult as all my friends, most of my co-workers, and my gf all watch it. But when I finally am able to watch it, I’m not sure I really want to know anything that haoppens before I see it with my own two eyes. Or maybe I’ll keep up with what’s going on with the season here, so then when the point comes when I have access to HBO, I’ll be able to pick it up quickly.
I’m coming to you all for advice on what I should do: 1) Avoid all discussion and spoilers, and watch it fresh in reruns or on DVD, or 2) Keep up on what’s happening, and start watching the season as soon as I have HBO again.
I know I posted “spoilers” in the title line, but I’m going to read this thread for advice on my dilemma, so I humbly request that you box spoilers until I post what I’m going to ultimately do.
Then, after I either bow out or jump in, you can post all the un-boxed spoilers you desire.
I’m in the same boat. I don’t have access to TMN (the HBO of Canada) so I can’t watch the episodes. But I plan on watching the episodes a couple of days after the fact after getting them through rather non-legal means. I’ll leave it at that.
I’m running away from these threads as fast as possible until I can watch the episodes.
This is a hard question to answer for somebody else. You’re basically asking us to decide whay your own preference should be. All I can do is tell you what I would do. I am too impatient and too curious not to read spoilers so I would be unable to cut myself off from reading discussions (or TWoP recaps) about the show. I am personally do not find that my enjoyment of consuming movies/books/TV shows is significantly diminished by knowing what’s going to happen.
That’s just me, though. Some people hate to have the surprises spoiled for them. Maybe you’re one of those people. It’s a completely personal thing.
That’s pretty much all I’m asking: what would you do? Plus, will it even be possible to go the entire season without knowing anything about what’s going on? Is it possile to remain completely ignorant? Has anyone else successfully put a moratoreum on information about a show for an entire season, and lived to tell?
It’s a quandary. By the time you see it, it’ll be old hat.
I managed to stay away from the Sopranos thread for two hours, until I was able to see the TiVo (I watched other stuff), but there’s no way I’d be able to wait for a year or more.
Spoilers will seep in, where you don’t expect them, in other threads where someone compares what happened in The Sopranos to something else, or talks about the music, or one of the actors.
If I had to wait a long time, I’d be reading the recaps at TWOP and the episode summaries at the HBO site, as well as all the threads here.
