Sopranos - 4/16

You missed Tony S’ scene with Dr. Melfi, where they talked about jail and how guys in jail “get a pass” for any same-sex discretions. Tony talked about his own brief jail time (probably before the show’s inception) and then felt he had to make it clear he stayed straight. The way he stated this left room for doubt.

Tony told Melfi that he wasn’t in “long enough” for his carnal needs to be fulfilled.

In his younger days, Tony ‘needed’ it about twice a day…and not from the same gal. Maybe he stockpiled some extra?

Now I’m convinced. Yahoo!'s “Image Search” was not so kind.

Thanks.

Not related to this episode, but Kevin Finnerty has been found. I guess Anthony Soprano needs to get down to Durham to exchange wallets.

I always thought Kevin Finnery from the brief view we had of his ID in that episode, looked like Kevin from The Office.

Oh and its been mentioned that Tony did a small stint in jail (not prison IIRC) previously. I find it as likely that Tony did some prison sex as AJ being gay… meaning no chance in hell.

A kindler gentler Tony. Talking about how every day is a gift fits into with him wanting to give Vito a pass for being gay. Then Silvio comes along and asks Are you going to kiss him on both cheeks?

Finn is going to run fast and far from the family.

AJ will do something dumb, being gay isn’t it. (Not that that is a choice, but I see the plot taking a different direction.)

Angie (Big Pussy’s wife) is mobbing up and dealing in stolen parts and doing well for herself. A lot different from when Tony smashed the window of her Cadillac a few years ago when she was barely getting by being a helpless wife of a on the lam wiseguy.

Phil is a dead man. Either questioning Johnny Sac’s manhood or going after Vito, he will be whacked.

The odd thing I’ve been thinking about Chris is he is getting dumber by the minute. Not only is he over and over questioning Tony, but getting deeper and deeper with the Arabs. The FBI and the terrorist angle has been established. The guy killed at the Crazy Horse was know as supporting the “prep schools” or madrassas. Now the two guys with the phone cards looking for guns.

This is what will make him go witness protection and the illusion of going to Hollywood in the witness protection progam. Giving up the mob ties to the arabs. Not doing lines of blow off of a fourteen year old cheerleaders ass.

Nuh-uh. I saw that bump & grind that Meadow did for him at the beginning of the season premiere.

That girl could be Sawney Bean’s daughter and write her thesis on the best way to season human flesh, and no-one’s going anywhere.

Later on, the ladies said, “She’s got money on the street.”

That implies that she’s loan-sharking. The two mob guys are her heavies.

The women even said, “well, good for her. Our grandmothers did it.” I doubt they meant buying black market auto parts.

FWIW, I believe her business is legitimate and profitable. She’s just doing what comes natural to a woman with her background when she gets a lot of extra cash on hand.

Thanks, all, forreminding me that Tony mentioned the jail thing to Melfi. I saw it, but it didn’t stick.

What’s th name for the fallacy where you assume that everything 4 women say while having lunch is 100% fact?

feminio ad absurdium

Damn, my wife deleted the Episode last night, I can’t check, but I thought they were talking about Auto Body Parts?
I agree with the Money on the street line though, I remember the line.

Jim

I think Finn’s outta there. Just because Meadow has grown into a nice piece of ass wouldn’t stop me from being driven crazy by her whiny bitchy proselytizing.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there was no final defining AJ storyline- his character is baggage at this point, the kid is the weakest acting link in the entire cast (including the guys who were real-life criminals at one point), and Carm said it best- he’s a cross they have to bear. Although I’m curious about the shot of him in the season bumper when he’s frantically running out of the door in what looks like a hospital room.

Oh- and when Benny and Patsy were in Angie’s body shop office, before Carm came in you can hear Benny saying something like “we can get you airbags, anything you want”, then when Carm came to the door Benny hid the envelope of (presumably) cash out of view.

Do you really want to pack up and leave the daughter of a mob boss? He might get a little angry…

I think Finn will ease himself out soon. Meadow is hot but between Whiny and extra scary family, I don’t think he is dumb enough to stay around.
I’m glad you caught the office discussion, I was sure they were discussing supplying parts.

You’re right about that.

She’s got her fingers in a couple pies, I suppose.

For what it is worth. The Line “Our grandmothers did it” rang very true. I had a pair of Great Aunts, my Grandfathers older sisters who took over the numbers runnings when their husbands died. They had retired before I was born but they lived in an Italian section of Manhattan and actually ran numbers and had neighborhood kids as runners. So apparently widows really did take over some of the business.
I always found this bizarre. My Grandfather was an Honest NYC Cabdriver and before that an Ice Delivery Man, but two of his sisters both married into minor mob families. I even had a cousin who married a minor mobster who was killed under mysterious circumstances.
To add to the confusion on the German/Irish side of my Mother’s family, she had 4 cousins and an Uncle that were NYPD. I gather the old family get togethers must have been interesting. I think one of her Italian Cousins was also NYPD.

Jim {this was all before my time, those Great Aunts died by the time I was 9, I don’t speak to or see the cousin I mentioned}

Tony has enough on his plate right now. And right around the time Finn decides California is the place he oughtta be, Meadow will be falling for Mr. Mad Hunky from the law firm of DiNuzzio, Yablonsky & Yablonsky, or whatever that place was called.
