I think Phil is acting boss of the NY gang while Johnny Sac is incarcerated (which might be for the rest of his life. Tony is the acting boss of the NJ gang while Junior is sent up. But I might be wrong.
I’m wondering, whom did AJ ask, to find out where Junior’s being held? He, sure as hell, wouldn’t have known that offhand.
That whole scene struck me as a sort of “kids these days” scene. In fact, a lot in this episode did. Maybe it’s just me, though.
Yeah, this one was kind of slow. Big Love was better.
Glad to be of service.
You are not the only one. With only a few episodes left in the season, this will make sense, although I see it more of a phone call to the guy who tells Phil where he stayed, followed by a trip by his crew.
Well, he’s pretty stressed out. I mean. . .he brings it upon himself by wanting to be a big shot. But he has flunked out of school, has no plans, has this romantic view of the mob, a love of material things.
Sure, a lot of people would trade their problems for his, but from his point of view, he’s got some reasons for it.
I liked this episode more than last weeks. I thought going into this season it would be about AJ figuring out his place in the mob, so I like that story line.
I like the Vito storyline too, so I wasn’t bored with that.
Also, that “starbucks shakedown” scene was classic. Just perfect.
Let’s not forget, there was some nice T&A in that episode. I’ve always wondered just how wide a belt can be before we’d call it a “skirt”.
I missed half of last night’s episode and all of the ep from two weeks ago (for whatever reason, this season hasn’t grabbed my attention as much as previous years) so maybe I’ve missed this - whatever happened w Carmela’s house-building deal? Last I saw the shoddy materials had shut down construction. Anything else happen since?
Tony should have brought Juliana M home to see if Carm was up for a 3-way. Dummy.
I saw this as unbuttoning his shirt reminding him of his scar and his “After everything that woman’s done for me . . .” speech to Melfi.
Too many cameos bugs be as well, but Julianna wasn’t one. She was just playing a role as an actress, not playing herself (even though her character had the same first name, I don’t think the real Julianna is a Century 21 agent). Really no different than Buscemi playing Tony B. or Joey Pants playing Ralphie.
Also,
She’s supposed to be appearing in several more episodes, including possibly the finale. So it’s not a one-off guest appearance.
This struck me as the height of stupidity on Vito’s part. Of course the guy whose cell phone he stole is going to check to see if there were any calls made on it. From there, it’s just a phone call to the unfamiliar Jersey number on his bill and things start to unravel.
You know, even New Hampshire has the Wal-Mart. He could have gotten a Trac-phone. Dumb old Vito.
Or used a payphone, like back in the day.
Basically, construction has stayed shut down, and Carmela got into a big fight with her father about it, and they’re not talking.
Also, I hope we all noticed that the Johnny Cakes guy’s accent is not exactly local. The fact that he sounds like he came from Vito’s neck of the woods might be significant too.
And Vito also completely blew his cover. The hiding thing is going to start falling down around him soon.
It could be misleading promos once again, but this time it really does look like something major is going down next week. And I sensed some dark clouds coming after Tony and Phil’s chat.
I don’t see what the problem was with casting Juliana Marguiles in a part. She’s a good actress. She has a character to play.
Is every character supposed to be played by someone that not everyone recognizes at first?
A payphone would give away his location easily, requiring a long trip to hide his true location. We’ve only seen him walking around until he got the hog at the end of the show, perhaps his car is still “in the shop”. Type in an area code & the first three digits into Google and you’ll easily find what town a phone is located in. A cell phone stolen off a tourist hides his present location for a little while at least. But Mrs. Vito seems convinced of Phil’s good intentions so she’ll no doubt share the caller-id info next time he pays a visit. Phil can call the guy up posing as a cop investigating a cell phone theft ring and figure out exactly where the phone was lost…
Absolutely agree. Just on a more pragmatic level, she just ironed it AND buttoned it for him. She certainly does a lot for him, no question.
That said, it’s a tribute to the writing that I STILL don’t like her. The character is so well developed and so well-acted that Carmela comes across as a real human being with good points about her as well as many, many flaws.
Two Vito double entendres in one post! Nice work.
I don’t like her either. I liked her better when she was conflicted about Tony’s business, but even then, not much.
Has she always spouted platitudes and cliches? Last night it was “We’ve been blessed”. Could she be more trite? Seems like every ep this season she’s said something like that.
It’s so obvious that they want A.J. out of the house, permanently. I don’t think they’d like him even if he did straighten up. They only talk to him when they’re mad at him. Geez, I’m starting to feel sorry for A.J.
