I was thinking that with the Crazy Horse (the club Adrianna used to run) now being manager-less, Tony might try to get AJ set up there.
However, considering that the place has become just another mob hangout, it seems a little unlikely. Since Season 1 Tony’s always maintainned that he doesn’t want AJ to go into his business at all, having him so close to Tony’s other family doesn’t really seem in character.
As Push You Down said, this basically came to an end when Livia died. It was brought up in Season 5 by the Feds but only to the extent that “3 year old airline tickets” are not much in the way of a RICO case against Tony. They’re holding out for something bigger, but with Adrianna gone they’ve only got Ray Curto to build it - so I assume they’re going to be trying hard to get someone else from inside his crew to flip.
However, it’s worth remembering that way back in Season 1 when the Feds had arrested Junior and were trying to get him to testify against Tony, they said it was mainly because it would allow them to get to Johnny Sack, and hence New York. Now they’ve got Johnny Sack and a fair amount of his crew, so maybe the pressure will be off Tony slightly?
Remember AJ is only 18 or 19 by now. Even as the boss’s kid there’s a long way to go before he would be running any kind of crew, let alone the Crazy Horse.
There is no way Tony would ever go state’s evidence. He would go on the lam first. Remember when he left the pile of cash with the lawyer for Carmella because he thought he might have to go into hiding? He killed Big Pussy, one of his best friends from childhood and cousin Tony B. Helping the Fed’s is the most out of character thing I can think of.
I do see Christopher being a loose cannon without Adriana keeping him in check. If he starts doing drugs again, could he get caught like Ray in Godfellas?
I agree, I can’t see Tony turning government witness ever.
Christopher, on the other hand? I can see that - if the Feds caught him moving drugs or something and offered him the right deal. While it was never explicitly stated, I think we were supposed to assume from Long-Term Parking that Chris was willing to turn himself in with Adrianna in return for full immunity etc. It was only when he realised how crummy his life would be by doing it (getting to live the rest of his life like a schnook, you could say) that he changed his mind. I don’t think loyalty to Tony or the Omerta or whatever had much to do with it.
In a way I think that’s part of what makes Tony so successful, and unlikely to be brought down easily by the Feds - he’s too smart to get directly mixed up in drugs. He also seems to be the best at keeping himself out of incriminating conversations etc. Essentially, without someone as close to him as Chris flipping I can’t see the Feds getting a good enough case against him.
My guess is that Tony becomes increasingly paranoid and isolating himself from the crew. Christopher can’t survive after his number of visiable screw ups. Paulie at least kept most of his major foul ups private.
He tries to get a relationship with the Doc again only for it to end badly (her death) Paulie turns States but the case falls apart allowing Tony to assume he’s won.
My guess the end of the final episode has Tony shot in the back of the head while watching the ducks in his pool. (poetic n’est pas?)
I saw an interview with some of the cast of OZ when it was still on the air. They couldn’t wait to get their scripts each week to find out if they were going to get killed and have a job the following week.
Being the last season, you have to wonder if some of these actors aren’t feeling the same way
