South Beach (diet) Expansion Ideas

Hi THere.

I notice that there seem to be a number of Dopers doing the South Beach diet.

I’m interested in giving it a try, however, not only am I an eater with the world’s shortest attention span, I’m also picky. For example, during phase 1, the last thing you eat every night is a Ricotta Creme something or other. EVERY NIGHT. Since part of the idea behind SB is that you eat smaller portions more often, I suspect this last meal is important.

But ricotta! UGH! Saints preserve me. Please not ricotta, it’s worse than the comfy chair! That and its evil cousin cottage cheese, and their evil stepson cream cheese.

And eggs, eggs in some variation (and why the egg substitute, anyone?) EVERY MORNING. Eggs are okay, but everyday, and I’m not gonna need to lower my sugar intake, I will alreay have put drillbit to head…

So, Obi-wan Ken-dopers, in your wisdom I turn to you. Any ideas on how to expand the phase one and phase two options to include fewer eggs and nothing that contains the words ricotta and creme?
