Last weeks one about Canada was just plain weird, like it was one big in joke amongst the writers, or a satire of something no ones heard of. Either that or just plain unfunny.
I think it was making fun of the writer’s strike, especially since one of their demands was for a higher share of internet profits. I didn’t think it was all that funny, but I loved the battle royale among the you tube stars.
I didn’t even think of that- maybe I’ll rewatch with that in mind and it might be better. Unfortunately I only knew who maybe one of the youtube people was, so I couldn’t enjoy that part.
Yes, the World Canadian Bureau’s acronym was WGA (Writer’s Guild of America).
It was one big in joke amongst anyone who has watched tv, listened to or read any news, or had a conversation about television in the last 6 months. Come on, man. The World Canada Bureau - The WGA. And Kyle’s speech at the end didn’t tip you off?
Not a Heavy Metal fan?
I fully admit it went right over my head why the acronym didn’t match the words and I didn’t make the writers connection. I don’t think I even knew that was what the writers association was called- SAG I knew, but not WGA. And as I didn’t find it funny I didn’t make it to the end speech, but with this new found knowledge in hand I’ll give it another try next time its on.
I finally caught most of it late last night on repeat. One of the best Garrison-heavy episodes. And speaking as a NY Giants fan, any mockery of the New England Patriots is a good thing.
I’m surprised they got away with the dick joke, too. I’m not referring to the scenes showing a laboratory-engineered penis/mouse running around, but the shot of Mickey Mouse with an enormous hard-on. I wonder how Trey & Matt’s lawyers precleared this, given how Disney’s previously gone after similar instances of, ahem, ribald creative license taken with their trademarked characters. Disney has a history of being very energetic in protecting their trademarks.
I’m afraid Disney might seek to preclude future airings/merchandising of that shot (or even episode), as the Church of Scientology tried to put the kibbosh on a CoS-spoof episode.
The sand box scene was terrific. The teacher asking the students if anyone there had seen his penis. Then Butters saying that hurt my brain.
Yes I am, that’s why I’d put it on my top ten list.
