South Park 4/19

That was…different.

I wonder if there was a subtext to the whole “don’t get high before you come up with your ideas” message…like maybe Parker and Stone were completely baked when they wrote this.

alright, who wants to volunteer to make a big deal about how none of the kids were in this episode?

That was the wierdest damned episode I’ve ever seen… of any show! But I loved it for some reason.

It was great that they just decided to make a towlie episode, staring Oprah’s vagina!

I liked it. It was certainly not something I’d been expecting.

Definitely one the oddest episodes ever. I think it was the accents of Minge and Gary that made it work so well.

One other thing: I loved that even when an asshole dies, that last thing he does is craps himself.

Lame. South Park is over the hill, in my opinion. Instead of having clever, character-based plots with some scattered social commentary, now all the episodes are based completely around some recent event, and the characters exist only to comment on it.

This contrast can be seen by comparing tonight’s Towelie episode with the last one. In the last one, there was some commentary, such as the gang’s being addicted to video games, but the plot did not revolve around it. All the jokes in today’s episode were making fun of celebrities and current events, or recycled from past episodes (“no, you’re a towel”).

Wait… so last week’s episode was good, but this week’s wasn’t and thus the show is over the hill? Shouldn’t we wait to declare such beyond one episode?

It was the bottom three.

Sorry. Wrong thread.

I don’t think last week’s was good either. I think that in the past few seasons South Part has been gravitating towards this type of episode. Last week’s episode, like this one, revolved around a current event, the Mohammed cartoons, as did the one before that, Scientology and Isaac Hayes leaving South Park. I personally enjoyed the show more when it was about Stan, Cartman and Kyle’s adventures and not whatever is on the front page this week.

If not for the lynch mob and the hostage situation, it would have been really bad. With them, it was just kinda lame.

I like South Park too much to say the episode sucked (maybe I’m in denial) but it was definitely a “meh” episode. I like that they do an episode every once in a while without the boys, just to change the pace. But I would also like to see more episodes about things other than current events. I was surprised that Tom Cruise was nowhere to be found.

I found it funny that they claim to be “nothing like Family Guy” and yet both shows had episodes recently where a character says getting high won’t give you artistic inspiration.*

[sub]*As an artist and somewhat of a stoner, I disagree with that statement. YMMV.[/sub]

“I mean, I know it’s just joke after joke, but I like that! At least it didn’t get all preachy and up its own ass with messages, you know?”

Anyway—sure, maybe it wasn’t a classic episode…but those accents were just a scream.

“I’m comin’ ta see ya, Gary!”

Yeah, a cheap laugh. But a good laugh none the less.

But he was there. When Toweleeie was signing his book at the bookstore, he showed up outside the store, with a 5:00 shadow. I noticed mih because they give him a very distintive hairstyle and profile, not like the round heads of most characters. I was surprised they didn’t do anything with him, though. That must be some powerful mojo Cruise has with Paramount…

And of course that should be noticed him because of the distinctive hairstyle. :smack:

I was thinking, “Wow, long still shots of Oprah’s crotch must have saved them a bundle on animation.” Then I fell asleep.

That would have to be the worst South Park I’ve ever tried to watch. After staring at Oprah’s crotch for the first 15 minutes, my husband looked at me and said, “Is it just me, or is this really stupid?” Then he went online and I went to bed.

I actually think this was the worst and least funny episode of South Park ever.
It had nothing really offensive, it just wasn’t funny. The story they were parodying was boring to start with. Geraldo should have been mocked more, he is an easy and obvious target.
Yes, I’ll step up to the plate, I thought it was dumb that the kids weren’t in it at all.
