That ep was hella lame, brah. They didn’t even seem to know if they were making fun of the Redskins or SJW’s or even just frikin crowdfunding. I hate that they only have eps one time a year now, makes unfunny ones like this seem all the worse.
I miss the Cartman of the early years. But he’s not coming back. This episode was great, even for someone like me who doesn’t follow football. The logos were hilarious.
When I saw a clip of this played on some other show it was the scene where Dan Snyder goes to their office and demands they stop using the name. In it Robert Griffin III was the player who was with him (Jay Gruden being the third person).
I just watched the episode on Hulu and they’d swapped out Kirk Cousins for Griffin. I love that they did that.
Most animated shows, like the Simpsons, take forever to produce. Something like an eight month turn-around to produce any given episode.
South Park isn’t animated by hand, but instead generated by computer. So they have a much faster turn-around. Much, much, much faster. Faster than pretty much any show on television, animated or not. They typically create an episode from scratch a week or maybe two weeks before it actually airs. (Compared to scripted television, which shoots a month or so before airing, or reality tv which shoots 4-6 months before airing.)
In this case, RGIII had recently gotten injured, so the South Park team went in and quickly changed it to the backup QB before it went to broadcast.
The time between the end of production and first airing is typically only a day and sometimes is only hours. The documentary “6 Days to Air” shows the insane production process that allows them to be more topical than any other non-news show on TV.
