Spam Anniversary

Do they have Scrapple in the UK? “Spam” fits the meter of the song better, but scrapple is the better breakfast food.

The Brits really struggled with rationing and such for quite a while after WWII. A lot of people couldn’t afford decent food and Spam became a substitute for real meats. Spam as a basic foodstuff continued long after things got a bit better. So using it in a sketch in that era was harkening back to those earlier times.

Thanks, ftg, for an interesting slant on the sketch. My only beef  with Spam is the high sodium content, which would probably kill me in a month.

Of course sir. This is a cheese shop, sir.

I didn’t expect this thread.

NOBODY expects this thread.

Poke this thread with the soft cushions!

I like fried Spam! I grew up borderline poor, so we ate it a lot.

Only after we’ve put it in the comfy chair!

I’d really prefer strawberry tart without so much rat in it, so I selected everything.

And finally, a wafer-thin mint. It’s only a tiny little thin one. :o

The jugged fish IS 'alibut!

Alright, this thread’s gotten very silly. Very silly indeed. You’re all under arrest for participating in a silly thread, and for ending every thread by just having a policemen come in and arrest everyone… hey, wait a minute…

What’s all this, then?

Caribou!

I’ll have yours!

Intercourse!

I have 45 spams in my in box. Not one looks like meat. Or fake meat, either.

Identify this quote’s movie:

Spam!

You bring a can opener?

No, I guess I didn’t.

Then don’t knock it, it’s got its own key.

I shall refrain from commenting on this one. :dubious:
