Do you like Spam?

Obviously I mean Spam the food and not the email pest.

I don’t believe I’ve ever had Spam.

I don’t have any objections to it, it’s just never been served to me, nor has it ever occurred to me to buy a can.

Spam is fine. Especially fried up with some eggs. I have a soft spot for processed ham-like products, but I’m not quite as fond of Treet.

I always keep some in the pantry, both for emergencies and for Spam & Eggs. It’s also not bad in a stir-fry. Note that this is my opinion only. The wife won’t touch the stuff.

I don’t usually eat spam, but when I do, it’s just okay. (One exception: I had some *really *delicious fried turkey spam with green beans one time in Hana, HI.)

I like Spam and have just recently gotten my oldest daughter to appreciate a good fried Spam sandwich.

But I was brought up in Hawaii in a military family, so that may have something to do with it. I don’t know if I would’ve ever tried it if I hadn’t been. For example, I’ve never tried Scrapple and for some reason find the idea of trying it to be unappealing.

Oh, and they sell spam in a single-serving pouch now. One slice, which is about a 1/4 of an inch thick, and about a 3" x 3" square. Which is what I get for my daughter and I when we’re having a craving for it.

Oh, that reminds me, it’s also great in budae jjigae, a spicy Korean stew that originated with the Korean War, using stuff like Spam and hot dogs from American bases. (The name means “army base stew.”) It’s a great “clean out the freezer and/or pantry” dish.

Also, you couldn’t have Spam musubi without Spam.

I voted for “okay”, but a more accurate answer would be “meh”.

I went with spam is okay, but that is meant as an average. If I had it very often, it would descend to ‘meh’ or distaste. But every once in awhile, it’s exactly what I want to eat. At those times, it’s excellent.

They put out an old-style can for their last anniversary. I have one of those sitting on a shelf with the tchotchkes.

It’s so so salty that I can’t imagine eating it more than once or twice a year.

I slice it thin and fry it crispy.

Easy and delicious:

1 can Spam, cubed
1 lb. cheddar cheese, cubed
1 lb. pasta shells
Handful of onions, diced
Miracle Whip
Salt & Pepper

Chill for at least an hour, then dig in.
mmm

Recipe:

Take a block of spam, and run it thru a meat grinder/food processor with an equal sized block of velveeta cheese. (throw in some onions or garlic or whatever before grinding, if it suits you.)

Spread the resultant mixture onto bread or hamburger bun halves or english muffin halves and put it under the broiler until the mixture browns slightly.

Let cool briefly. Eat!

Yummmm…

I DON’T LOIK SPAM!!!

Actually, I’ve never had it. On the other hand, that Underwood Deviled Ham stuff with the little devil on it, on squishy white bread with Miracle Whip… om nom nom. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s OK, but not something I look for. I’ll sometimes buy it if it’s on sale.

I did visit the SPAM Museum in Austin, MN once.

Anyone ever made a SPAM Upside-Down Pie?

I like it, but I prefer it cold to fried. I just like the flavour better that way. Also, I actually prefer Spam Lite or Turkey Spam.

Love the stuff! But even the lower sodium or SPAM lite still has a pretty powerful salt/fat punch, so it’s an occasional treat only.

It’s ok. I usually eat it after I’m done polishing the furniture.

I chop it up and put it with corn and cooked pasta and mayaonnaise in a delicious pasta dish. It’s not meant to be eaten straight out of the jar or anything! And it is yummy in my pasta dish.
