Spam filter for Windows Mobile 6.1?

Hi!

I’ve been searching forever now trying to find a spam filter for WinMobile 6.1. I’m running it on a Samsung Blackjack II from AT&T if that makes any difference. I use a pop3 email account with no spam filtering from my ISP. At home I use Outlook and its built in spam filter.

However, I cannot for the life of me find ANY spam filters for 6.1. I did find one for 6, but it won’t install on my phone.

So does anyone know of any spam filters for WinMo 6.1? Any help will be greatly appreciated as my phone is currently about useless for email with the hundreds of spam messages I get a day.

Can you set up a GMail account to collect your POP account and then collect your email from GMail using your phone? That way you’d be using GMail’s spam filtering.

That’s a pretty slick idea. I can still make emails sent from my phone appear to be from me@myisp.com, right?

I’ve never used gmail before (I know, don’t tell anyone). Has anyone else tried this with any luck?

You can, it should work fine.

Longer term, you may want to consider switching from your ISP address over to Gmail. That way your ISP isn’t holding you hostage with your email account, and since you’re getting that much spam it’s a good idea anyway.

I recommend getting two Gmail accounts, one you keep for friends and family and one you use for web sites. You can have one forwarded to the other, and if the spam gets bad again on the web site account just change it to something else. You won’t need to change the friend/family account unless they sell your address to a mailing list :). The Gmail spam filter works very well too though.
