Lately, I’ve been getting spam and as I go through my scroll and delete routine, I get a Windows prompt stating “a script on this page is not working properly. Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?”
It’s bad enough these bastards keep sending me unwanted E-Mails - but at least they should make sure the fucking things are written properly.
And a lesser rant about the spam shitheads that have the option “the sender would like a reply that you received this E-Mail”. Man that’s bad enough when people I know shove that option in my face - but spam sleazeballs trying this crap is really obnoxious.
What e-mail client are you using? Most decent clients (including most web clients) will provide the option to disable the automatic previewing of e-mails. That way, you can prevent any scripts from running as soon as you click on the subject.
If I were you, I’d be much more concerned about the scripts that DO run succesfully. Bad coding would be a blessing if you don’t have any facilities in place to block malicious scripts.
Depending on your client, you should also be able to disable receipt reply prompts. If you’re running Outlook, make sure you have all the latest updates at windowsupdate.microsoft.com and officeupdate.microsoft.com
Seconded - I’d be far more worried that your email client is trying to execute scripts at all than that some of them are broken. Are you using Outlook Express?
