SPAM'n'eggs

In Truk Lagoon (Chuuk), Spam was on the menu everywhere. I’m personally not a fan, but one of the guys on the trip with me ordered it at least once a day.

It does. We use a recipe from the web to make the Sass by blending several kinds of pop. So far, we haven’t felt the need to eat this while in costume, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Add in sticky rice, and this is The Boyfriend’s favoritest breakfast in the world. Picked it up when he was stationed in… wait for it… Hawaii. He agrees that they’re crazy about it there.

Lots of sushi in Hawaii is made with spam. We’ve had sushi in Japan too and no Spam in sight, so it’s definitely a Hawaiian adaptation.

I have this sudden hankering for eggs, chips, baked beans, and Spam… :o

Oh, absolutely. I first had it at a Polynesian themed party.

Baked beans are off.

Muwahahahahahahaha!

We had Spam for breakfast this morning. Went well with the Bisquick pancakes.

So did we. I just finished, and the SO is still eating, breakfast burritos. The remaining four slices of SPAM were cut into 16 fingers, and served in flour tortillas with scrambled eggs, ‘home-fried’ potatoes, shredded cheddar, and salsa.

I may just have another.

Spam musubi - ono, brah! Broke da mout’ good.

One of my less pleasant recollections of childhood is finding a cold Spam sandwich in my lunchbag (“cold” as in “straight from the can onto white bread, without scraping off the gloop first”). Then there was the exquisite sensation of chomping down on a piece of gristle — my jaw would ache for hours, and it almost guaranteed that Sister Mary Godzilla would call on me repeatedly after lunch.

That said, I always have a can or two hanging around. And Spam and pancakes has become a traditional Christmas breakfast of late.

I’ve got to be in the right mood and the wife has to be away (she hates the stuff) but there has been a time or two I’ve had it as part of all three meals in a day. Not having it very often makes it a kind of treat.

Can we talk about Vienna sausages? …

I remember from my childhood many meals of Spam with a Kraft Hickory-Smoked BBQ Sauce topping. Can’t seem to remember what went with it…string beans, I think?

:frowning:

Only if served in chafing dishes and smothered in barbecue sauce. With those cute little toothpicks decorated with cellophane curls. :o

Those are Lil Smokies.
