I vaguely recall the following about two non-English language films that I watched a long time ago. This may be a long shot, as I only remember very little, but I’m wondering if anyone can help me identify them?
The Spanish one was about lives of a boy and a girl during the Spanish civil war. They were probably around ten or so. They lived in the countryside. I think they were friends, possibly neighbours, but not siblings. The girl lived in a dairy farm. And that’s all I remember…
I only remember one particular scene from the Russian film. It was a beautiful day. A man and a boy was in a rowboat. The man was telling the boy about the awesomeness of the Soviet Union and how it was the greatest country on earth, etc. He might have been singing some patriotic songs too, but I don’t really remember.
I know this isn’t much to go on, but any help is appreciated. My curiosity is killing me!
I don’t remember them talking about the awesomeness of the Soviet Union, but there are a number of scenes of fathers and sons in rowboats in the Russian movie The Return. Maybe?
Thanks, this seems like an interesting movie worth checking out. I’ve added it to my Netflix queue. I definitely watched what I had in mind back in the 90s though, so that was a little before The Return was made.
