Spare me the doe-eyed children pontificating on global warming

Well, how exactly is it racist for the evil characters to wear dark colored clothing?

That’s fucking ridiculous. Sure, it could be racist for all the good characters to be fair and blonde and all the evil characters to be swarthy and brunette. But CLOTHING?

Thing is, the white=good, black=evil idea goes back much much much farther than the enslavement of dark-skinned Africans by light-skinned Europeans. See, human beings need light to see. When it’s dark, humans have trouble. So, dark is bad, light is good.

So the charge that racism is behind the tendency of evil characters to wear dark clothing is simply the stupidist thing I’ve heard today.

Okay, I’ve started a GD thread on the racism question so as not to hijack this thread any further.

I must protest this! Rafiki is an honorable, wise character. Not at all a Jar Jar Binks. I saw the play live, and fell in love with Rafiki. Also loved the character in the film…so I couldn’t let that pass without protest.

I somehow missed that Leaper already addressed this. I jumped the gun without reading further. My bad.
