Special Favorite Male Sitcom Characters poll - Details in OP

In preparation for the upcoming Best Male Sitcom Character polls, I need to pare down the number of nominees in order to fit the 50-option restriction for polling.

All of the characters who have received just a single vote are already gone; these are the nominees who have each received two votes. Several these have to be eliminated before we continue.

So, vote below for your favorites within this list. No restrictions, select as many as you like, go to town.

I’ll leave this open for a few days.

Rob Petri?
Alan Brady?
Buddy Sorrell?

Maxwell Smart?

I’m not understanding - why the question marks?

mmm

I seem to recall that Smart, Petrie, and Sorrell were mentioned multiple times.

Yes, they were. They are already in.

This poll is to break a 33-way tie to determine who squeezes into the brackets.

As explained here…

Ah. Sorry, I didn’t read that carefully. My error.

You misspelled “Sorry about that, Chief!” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

FWIW I would never not have Maxwell Smart in the polls.

mmm

“Missed it by that much”

What he said. To quote Homer: D’oh!

That’s the second-funniest post I’ve ever seen.

mmm

How many from this list are going to the Big Dance?

To clarify, we are voting for the ones to be kept?

Not exactly sure, since some nominations are still rolling in.

Probably a little less than half.

mmm

Frank Costanza and Arthur Spooner are essentially the same character, played by the same actor.

Frank is currently trouncing Arthur. Not the way I would have it.

mmm

Seinfeld was a much more popular show than King of Queens.

I’ll note that Dr. Perry Cox (Scrubs) got a second nomination after this poll was started. How’s that going to be handled?

I trust that the decision that will be made will be fair. I could argue that a couple of mine should get a pass to the next round but even so, they probably will lose the first round (how many people watch Corner Gas?).

Very well-known and popular in its native Canada, AIUI, but its visibility and popularity have been pretty variable in the U.S.

It was carried for a while on a second-tier U.S. cable channel (WGN America), and I’ve sometimes seen it on PBS stations; it doesn’t look like it was ever broadcast here on a major TV network. I don’t think that it ever got beyond a niche audience here, and probably on par with other Canadian shows like Red Green.

Myself and a few others on this board at least.
