Google is NOT my friend.
Ouch! 23 out of 27. Burn baby burn.
I did some of these questions just to gauge awareness of some films’ reputations with the Oscars. Hence…
Vertigo, Rebel Without a Cause and yes, even Rambo: First Blood Part II were all nominated for Oscars. And Goodfellas, Citizen Kane and Star Wars were not only all Oscar winners, but even Best Picture nominees. Birth of a Nation, of course, was not nominated for an Oscar by virtue of being 13 years too early.
Good Night and Good Luck was not a multiple Oscar winner–it went 0-for-7. And while Pulp Fiction did win screenplay, that was the only thing it won, so it’s not a multiple winner either.
It’s interesting that the top 2 vote getters received their Oscar on their only writing nomination
Technically, O’Toole, Hope, and Grant are all Oscar winners, though not competitively (they all received Honorary awards). But Scorsese and Kubrick both won competitive Oscars (the latter won the Oscar for the Visual Effects of 2001).
Norma Desmond is/was a silent film star, so her career preceded the Oscars.
Well, these all can’t be right unless Slumdog sweeps everything and Richard Jenkins wins Best Actor. We’ll see…
Thanks, Dolores (and everyone else)–it was fun!
But Rambo: First Blood, was not nominated for any Oscar.
Not that it did me any good
Fun feud – thanks ArchiveGuy, Rebo!
Good game! Thanks, you two!
Last night a local station ran" Jesse James meets Frankensteins Daughter", if that did not win any awards, how could I be expected to compete.
We saw that listing last night here, gonzo, don’t tell me you subjected yourself to watching it?
Any feud I wind up in the top ten is a great feud! Thanks,** ArchiveGuy** and Rebo.
I know. It’s annoying to have a right answer that gets outscored by a wrong answer.
The Wolf has 1950 era movies every weekend. He digs the bottom of the barrel but I like watching the environment. They drive through the streets in brand new 1950s cars. There are Edsels, Nashs and strange cars brand spankin new. The movies are kind of weak. A couple weeks ago they showed the classic" Santa Claus vs the Martians." Then watching the neighborhoods is interesting too . It is a time capsule.
Are you sure? I can’t find any noms for it, but I just sat through most of Tora! Tora! Tora! with my ex-Navy husband, and AMC is promoting a week of movies that received Oscar nominations, and Rambo is one of them. I know the movie itself would never be nominated, but there must have been a nomination in some category, or else AMC is fudging.
I knew I should have gone with King Kong and Edith Head, but I figured only the old-timers would think of them. Can’t explain why I went with Carson for the host, except that being dead (and a good host) makes him more “memorable”.
I suck at these, but it’s sure fun to play.

Crap. I was trying hard not to see the other replies, so I didn’t realize the feud has ended.
Just check the link. It links to all the awards Rambo: First Blood has gotten and been nominated for.
Unless IMDB is wrong?
Rambo was the name of the sequel (which was nominated for an Oscar). The original was simply titled First Blood and that wasn’t.
Gottcha.
Yep, it goes:
First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo: I Am Not Yet Dead
(ok, I embroidered the last one a bit…sue me )
