Special Movie Trivia: Identify the movie from this scene description.

TK1- “Badges? We ain’t got no badges. We don’t need no badges. I don’t have to show you any stinking badges.”
(the first time it was said on film)

Treasure of Sierra Madre?

NDP 27 - Although it’s turned off, a disturbing image is seen on a TV screen.

The Ring?

ME 1 - The usual relationship between oil tanker and submarine is reversed dramatically.

The Spy Who Loved Me?

Okay, my turn:

L4L 1 - A priest sees two dogs fight in the desert, later he sees a man jump out a window. (Easy)

L4L 2 - It’s Mother’s Day, and a group of soldiers are celebrating with whiskey and hookers. (Medium)

L4L 3 A man gets divorced then travels to Poland in a suitcase. (hard)

L4L 3: Three Colours: White

I suspect that there have been a number of films with scenes like this, but one is Poltergeist.

Michael Ellis writes:

> ME 6 - A furturistic spaceship is full of rusting pipes and boilers.

Well, that’s sort of true in Alien.

Gee, you got the hard one first :frowning:

Someone else said Poltergeist too, but was there an image on the screen at all? It’s been years since I’ve seen it, but I thought it was static and the girl got sucked into it or something. Now The Ring, that has disturbing images on a TV

BWY1: Hundreds of bullets fly through a building, but there’s no sound of gunfire.

BWY2: A man’s nightmare comes true behind a diner in LA.

BWY3: A few soldiers, survivors of an avalanche, crawl out of the snow that buried them.

American Werewolf in London?

The Player ?

lost4life Humphrey Bogart in Treasure of the Sierra Madre is correct. I was afraid that’d be too easy or perhaps you’re just good. That line has been misquoted and paraphrased for decades. I was just wondering if anybody still living remembered where they first HEARD it. Not read it mind you, very good.

You didn’t Google it did you?

and in Poltergeist, IIRC the little girl was the one who saw the images on the TV, afterwards she WAS the image on the TV (quite disturbing)

TK2 - (hint 1)Three friends who were in law enforcement together wind up at odds and one is executed by the other two for doing something they all three are guilty of.

(hint2) Another member of the trio dies later, regretting the execution of the first. Admits to the sole surviving friend that they had killed him for doing the same thing they were guilty of.

Aside from a spoof in Blazing Saddles, I really only know it from Sierra Madre. I’ve heard people say it a lot, but I kind of took it as common knowledge, seeing how Bogart was fairly popular.

And I still take The Ring TV over Poltergeist TV !
**BWY1: Hundreds of bullets fly through a building, but there’s no sound of gunfire.[\B]

The Matrix?

The problem with this whole game is that many of the scenes that we’re supposed to guess are described so vaguely that they could be found in half a dozen films. Come on, people, if you’re going to make this game work, be a little more specific in your descriptions so that they don’t apply to a dozen films.

L4L1 - Exorsist

BWY1 - I was thinking Matrix too
BWY3 - Fellowship of the Rings?

Although I have some entries from page 1 I will start a new numbering system.

NYR1- A blind man accidently lights a visitors thumb on fire
NYR2 - A man’s surname becomes synonymous with failure
NYR3- A boy returns a special gift and is rewarded with an even greater gift

NYR407 writes:

Young Frankenstein

Correct.

NYR3 Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

WW is correct
L4L is correct

TK2 - Is that Sleepers? Its been a while since I seen it so my memory is a little foggy.

I should have said Fellowship of the Ring (not plural) in case someone tries to correct me later.

No guess on NYR2?

NYR4 - A man dies before he gets a chance to see Montana.

Sounds like The Matrix to me.

Kingpin

NYR4 - A man dies before he gets a chance to see Montana

hunt for red october?

Oooh Oooh WAG, but is it Badlands? (I previewed and saw t-keela’s answer…it sounds better, but weren’t the chartacters in Badlands heading for Montana? It’s been a while.)
New ones:
L4L - 4 A German lady makes coffee in the desert.
L4L - 5 A German scientist is attacked by dogs in Pennsylvania.
L4L - 6 A German girl screams very, very loud in a casino.
